Abstract:

An electronic network is monitored for abrupt or unexpected changes in operating parameters. Monitoring may include performing a first measurement of a parameter of the network on a first data path between a first electronic device and a second electronic device. A second measurement of the parameter may then be performed. An indication is provided if the difference of values of the first measurement and the second measurement exceeds a preselected value.

Abstract:

A method and system is disclosed for automated event polling in a network. A server receives a HTTP request for data from a database on the server. A client generates the HTTP request for the data. The server responds to the request by reformatting the data into an XML format. The server then transmits the data in XML format to the client. The client receives the data transmitted from the server in XML format and converts the data in XML format to a format used by the client software.

When a first diagnostic tool determines that a portion of the electronic network is not operating within a preselected specification, at least one other diagnostic tool is instructed to analyze that portion of the network. The data generated by the diagnostic tools is correlated to better determine the cause of the network not operating within the preselected specification, which is then presented to a network user.

Abstract:

A method and system are disclosed for analyzing an event in a network. For example, the method for analyzing an event in a network includes identifying a network protocol error in the network, identifying a network hardware failure in the network, correlating the network protocol error and the network hardware failure to determine a correlation result, and outputting the correlation result to a user interface. The correlation output can provide an indication of a relationship between the network protocol error and the network hardware failure.
