Consumer Appliance Such As Dishwasher With Soft Open Door Mechanism
Aaron Matthew McDaniel - Louisville KY, US John Alexander Gardner - Louisville KY, US
Assignee:
General Electric Company - Schenectady NY
International Classification:
A47B 95/02 A47B 88/00 E05F 1/10 E05F 1/00
US Classification:
3123192, 312328, 49386, 49387
Abstract:
A consumer appliance with a soft open door mechanism includes a cabinet having top and a bottom and defining an opening along a front side. A door has a top and a bottom and is attached by a hinge to the front side of the cabinet. The hinge is at a bottom of the door so that the door is movable between an upright position closing the opening and a substantially horizontal position opening the opening. A spring is mounted in the cabinet so as to oppose movement of the door toward the horizontal position. A damping device is mounted within the cabinet activatable by an opening movement of the door toward the horizontal position to slow the door motion. The damping device is not active until the door has moved a distance from the upright position toward the horizontal position. Again, various options and modifications are possible.

Abstract:
A spill proof shelf and a refrigerator using the same are disclosed. The shelf has a glass plate formed through a glass-slumping process. The shelf also has a metal bracket coupled to the plate for supporting the plate. The bracket provides an interface of the shelf with the refrigerator. The plate has a lower planar portion and an upper planar portion surrounding the lower planar portion. The upper planar portion is smoothly transitioned to the lower planar portion through the glass-slumping process, to define a central recess. The plate also has a side portion extending perpendicularly from the upper planar portion. In case food or beverage spill occurs, it will be confined in the recess.
Slumped Glass Spill Proof Shelf For An Appliance And Method Of Manufacturing A Shelf
Aaron Matthew McDANIEL - Louisville KY, US Jonathan Nash - LaGrange KY, US Cory J. Tafoya - Louisville KY, US Ragavendra Prabhakar - Chennai, IN Sai Krishna Kunchala - Kadapa, IN
A spill proof shelf, a refrigerator using the same and a method of manufacturing a shelf are disclosed. The spill proof shelf has a sheet defining a main plane. The sheet includes a plurality of raised surfaces that extend from a top surface to define a spill proof area on the top surface. At least one of the raised surfaces has an end. The shelf also has a lip. The lip has a front edge and extends outward from the end of the at least one of the raised surfaces with the front edge being in a plane different from the main plane.
An indicator for a dispenser is disclosed. The indicator includes at least one display layer having at least one display surface surrounded by at least one edge surface, the at least one display layer being transparent in a direction of the at least one edge surface; at least one light source configured to transmit light through the at least one display layer in the direction of the at least one edge surface; and at least one pattern portion disposed in the at least one display surface such that light from the at least one light source is redirected through the at least one pattern portion.
An apparatus includes a mold body with at least one cavity configured and dimensioned to receive water to be frozen into ice; and a rod, the rod in turn comprising at least one of a heat source and a heat sink. The mold body is mounted to the rod such that the rod functions as an axis of rotation for the mold body. A refrigerator using the apparatus is also disclosed.
Adjustable Rack Assembly For Use With A Washing Appliance
An adjustable rack assembly for a washing appliance. The adjustable rack assembly includes a rack having a first side wall and an opposing second side wall, a first rail assembly having a first plurality of horizontal rails, and a second rail assembly having a second plurality of horizontal rails. A first support assembly is coupled to the first side wall of the rack and includes a first support plate configured to be removably coupled to the first rail assembly at a first horizontal rail of the first plurality of horizontal rails. A second support assembly is coupled to the second side wall of the rack and includes a second support plate configured to be removably coupled to the second rail assembly at a first horizontal rail of the second plurality of horizontal rails.

International Classification:

US Classification:
3123192
Abstract:
A consumer appliance has a soft open door mechanism. The mechanism may include a damping device with a first end mounted to the cabinet and a second end mounted so as to move with the door. The damping device includes a partial fill damper activatable by an opening movement of the door toward the horizontal position to provide an opposing force to slow the door motion. The damper may be configured so as to initiate the opposing force only when the door has moved at least about 45 degrees from the upright position toward the horizontal position, and/or may be configured so that the damper includes a damping coefficient of about 200 to about 240 lb*s/ft.

Abstract:
An apparatus includes a shelf and a support structure for supporting the shelf, the support structure including rotation features that cause the shelf to rotationally pivot from a first height position to a second height position in response to a user-provided force.
