A method of enhancing surface strike performance, includes providing a club head having a face surface and a receiving portion recessed into the club face. The receiving portion is configured to receive a strike surface material. The surface strike material is an amorphous ceramic material which is inserted as an inlay into the receiving portion as a liquid slurry. The slurry is distributed evenly within said receiving portion forming a uniform layer of ceramic material filling said receiving portion. Microgrooves are added to the ceramic material in a vertical direction to further increase the strike performance of the club head.
A golf club is disclosed having a shaft which reduces or dampens vibrations. A method for making the golf club is also disclosed. A cavity is centrally formed within the shaft and a viscoelastic material is disposed within the cavity. The viscoelastic material forms a network of elastic dampeners configured to attenuate propagation of vibrational energy through the shaft.
Method And Apparatus For Optimizing Launch Characteristics Of A Golf Club
An apparatus is disclosed having a body member which includes a face surface and a receiving portion recessed into the face surface. A face insert having a striking surface is also included and is adapted to attach to the recessed receiving portion. The face insert and the striking surface are a single body made from an injection moldable material which provides the striking surface of the face insert with a combination of properties configured to improve performance characteristics of an associated ball.
