Abstract:
A transformer comprising a stack of sheet metal laminations; an insulating plastic bobbin on which a primary coil is wound; an insulating plastic bobbin on which the secondary coil is wound; and two interengaging insulating plastic covers which enclose the primary coil and provide additional insulation between the primary coil and the laminations and between the primary and secondary coils, while also providing a strain relief for the primary leads from the primary coil. The plastic components are formed to provide two mms of insulation between the primary and secondary coils, and between the primary coil and the laminations. The plastic components are arranged to provide at least 10 mms of "creepage" distance between primary and secondary coils and at least 8mms between the primary coil and the laminations. The insulation provided is sufficient to permit the steel laminations to be mounted directly on the metal frame of an appliance.
A sewing machine having a presser bar operated by a lever having a movable fulcrum to vary the mechanical advantage of the lever and thereby vary the effective pressure on the presser bar.

Abstract:
An electric motor is supported at one end on a molded plastic electrically non-conducting housing which is slidably mounted on the metallic frame of a sewing machine at the base and which is biased toward the base of a compression spring to set tension in a belt through which the motor drives a pulley on the arm shaft of the sewing machine.
A sewing machine motor is provided with an elongate pin which is affixed in the end portions of the arms of sheet metal motor end brackets, and which is pivotally mounted in frame affixed resilient end blocks to enable the motor to be adjusted about the axis of the pin for the purpose of altering tension in a belt driven by the motor.

Abstract:
A light socket for bayonet-type lamps in which the contacts therein are in the form of levers having one end formed to engage the contacts of a lamp inserted into the socket. The levers pivot on the electrically conductive tubes into which the ends of lead wires may be inserted for conducting electrical power to the levers.

Abstract:
A round foot controller has a molded cover 75 attached to a molded base 11 by interengaging projections 79 and 16 extending in opposite directions toward each other from the rims of telescoping walls 77 and 13. The wall 77 is near the perimeter of the cover and is concentric with another wall 76 that surrounds the wall 77. The wall 13 concentrically surrounds another wall 14 in the base. The base has openings 96 and the cover has corresponding openings 97 left by the respective molds that form the undersides of the projections 16 and 79. The double-walled structure of the cover telescoping with the double-walled structure of the base prevents inadvertent access to the electrical components in the foot controller. However, the resistence of a variable resistor 21 or 103 in the controller, can be varied by pressure on any part of the cover 75.
A sewing machine motor is provided with stamped out sheet metal end brackets including arms with disc like end portions which are mounted for pivotal movement in slots in a frame to permit the motor to be adjusted as required to alter tension in a belt driven by the motor.
