Abstract:

An improved multi-purpose caulk finishing tool incorporating a clip (or locking slots) for attaching the tool to a caulking gun and means for storing caps for caulking material. The present invention is held and carried unobtrusively on a conventional caulking gun. Means are also provided for storing caps, for resealing caulking material cartridges, within the caulk finishing tool.

Abstract:

A pair of sure-grip inserts formed as molded rubber sheathes for use in conjunction with a caulking gun having a downwardly protruding trigger that is retracted by hand to dispense caulk, and a downwardly protruding stationary handle to provide a hand grip for retracting the trigger. The trigger insert formed as an open-ended molded rubber sheath with a particular contoured shape and an internal channel conforming to the trigger for slidable insertion thereon. The handle insert is likewise formed as an open-ended molded rubber sheath conforming to the handle for slidable insertion thereon. The inserts are molded per a two-color double-injection-molding process to provide an aesthetically striking two-color appearance, and they are molded with a particular contoured design that conforms to the hand, thereby improving comfort during hard, extended use. The contour plus the use of soft-durometer thermoplastic rubber gives a high-coefficient of friction for a vastly improved grip under all (even wet) conditions.

Abstract:

Providing an electronic notification to an intended recipient includes communicating an electronic notification directed to an intended recipient, determining a lifespan related to a duration of relevance of the electronic notification, and providing the electronic notification to the intended recipient when the lifespan has not expired. The duration of relevance describes a time period during which information of the electronic notification reasonably may be expected usefully to inform an action or interest of the intended recipient. After the lifespan expires, provision of the electronic notification to the intended recipient may be prevented.

Abstract:

A verification technique which greatly simplifies and facilitates the tesg of the wiring of wrapped wire electronic boards. The technique contemplates continuity testing of each branch and discontinuity testing between successive branches. After a continuity test for one branch and a discontinuity test with the next succeeding branch, the two branches are then short-circuited. The procedure is repeated with each wired branch until all branches have been tested, whereupon the short-circuit wire may then be removed. The testing technique may be facilitated by utilizing a numerically controlled terminal locator in combination with a computer generated control tape. The technique also contemplates a visual check to verify that all pins on the board that are intended to be wired are indeed wired, and that all pins on the board which are not intended to be wired are indeed bare.

Abstract:

A blood gas analyzer system for monitoring real-time blood gas conditions in a patient perfusion circuit during open-heart surgery and other extracorporeal blood flow situations. Sensing electrodes are employed in the blood flow path for sensing pH, pCO. sub. 2, pO. sub. 2 and temperature, and electrical circuitry is provided for generating and processing the sensed signal and also for computing a signal representing HCO. sub. 3. sup. - ; also, these signals are monitored in real time. When situations of metabolic acidosis, metabolic alkalosis, respiratory acidosis or respiratory alkalosis occur, the system activates a corresponding alarm and automatically switches into a compensation mode of effect a change in pump speed, which in turn changes the delivery rate of oxygenated blood to the patient. When the blood gas level returns to normal, the pump speed is likewise automatically returned to a normal value.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a method for the detection of viable microorganisms in urine using DNA-crosslinking agent to differentiate between dead and live microorganisms. The DNA-crosslinking agent can penetrate cells which have compromised cell membranes, such as dead cells. The method of the present application comprises amplifying DNA in the urine sample which is pre-treated with the DNA-crosslinking agent. In addition, the method includes the step of centrifugation to remove supernatant from the urine.
