Abstract:

According to one aspect, a multifunctional computing device having a wireless communications processor (e. g. , cellular processor) and an application processor (e. g. , general-purpose processor such as a CPU) share a storage device that is associated with or attached to the application processor. An example of such a multifunctional computing device may be a Smartphone device having a cellular phone and handheld computer functionalities. There is no specific storage device directly associated with or attached to the wireless communications processor (hereinafter simply referred to as a wireless processor). Instead, the wireless processor communicates with the application processor via a high speed communications link, such as a USB link, to access code and data stored in the storage device (e. g. , flash memory device) associated with the application processor.

Techniques for configuring wireless communications devices are disclosed. For instance, an apparatus may include a storage medium to store one or more configuration files, and a configuration module. Each of the one or more configuration files may correspond to a network carrier. The configuration module selects one of the configuration files and to extract one or more operational parameters from it. This selected configuration file and the one or more operational parameters correspond to a designated network carrier.

Abstract:

A method for managing flash memory is provided. The method includes determining at least one property of a data and determining to which type of a plurality of types of flash memory to write the data, based on the at least one property of the data. The plurality of types of flash memory includes at least two types of flash memory having differing numbers of bits per cell. The method includes writing the data to a flash memory of the determined type. A nonvolatile memory manager and a system are provided.
