Abstract:

Modification of the presentation of page appearance, page navigation flow, and other aspects of the user experience of an online shopper navigating the virtual shopping cart and checkout pages of an online store is achieved without compromising the security of checkout processing. The modification may include customization, and various configuration and customization tools may be employed. The online shopper experiences continuity between unsecured-connection pages presenting items for purchase and secured-connection pages presented for checkout processing. In one embodiment, page navigation flow is modified using continuations implemented using a relatively small stack to save information relating to the flow. In another embodiment, a page designer enables a dynamic version of a page specification program to be generated, such as by way of a page customization interface. Partial evaluation is employed to generate a version of the program that is executed at request time.

Abstract:

Methods, systems, and computer programs are presented for reducing latency for providing a user feed containing one or more posts. One method includes operations for receiving a request to access the user feed and for performing a first query to search posts. The first query uses a first time horizon delimiting a creation time of posts and a first maximum number of posts selected for ranking. The posts from the first query are sent to the client device for presentation on a user interface. Further, a second query is performed to search posts, where the second query uses a second time horizon that is greater than the first time horizon and a second maximum number of posts for ranking that is greater than the first maximum number of posts. The posts from the first query and the second query are merged and sent to the client device for presentation.

Abstract:

The disclosed embodiments provide a system for processing data. During operation, the system stores a conversation containing a series of messages exchanged among a number of participants in a first document containing metadata for the conversation; a second document containing message content for the series of messages, wherein the message content includes a fixed position gap between starting or ending positions in consecutive messages in the series of messages; and one or more additional documents storing message metadata for individual messages in the conversation. Next, the system processes a first search across the series of messages in the conversation using an index of the set of documents. The system also processes, using the index, a second search within individual messages in the series of messages as a span query with a distance that is shorter than the fixed position gap.

Abstract:

The present disclosure generally relates to context-based endpoint detection in user speech input. A method for identifying an endpoint of a spoken request by a user may include receiving user input of natural language speech including one or more words; identifying at least one context associated with the user input; generating a probability, based on the at least one context associated with the user input, that a location in the user input is an endpoint; determining whether the probability is greater than a threshold; and in accordance with a determination that the probability is greater than the threshold, identifying the location in the user input as the endpoint.

Abstract:

Systems and processes for generating a shared pronunciation lexicon and using the shared pronunciation lexicon to interpret spoken user inputs received by a virtual assistant are provided. In one example, the process can include receiving pronunciations for words or named entities from multiple users. The pronunciations can be tagged with context tags and stored in the shared pronunciation lexicon. The shared pronunciation lexicon can then be used to interpret a spoken user input received by a user device by determining a relevant subset of the shared pronunciation lexicon based on contextual information associated with the user device and performing speech-to-text conversion on the spoken user input using the determined subset of the shared pronunciation lexicon.
