Abstract:
A cannula insertion device is disclosed. The device includes a needle carriage, a rail device on which the needle carriage is slidable, a yoke having a channel, a linkage connected to the needle carriage and extending into the channel, a torsion spring with one end connected to the linkage, and locking device for locking the torsion spring in tension and maintaining the needle carriage and the linkage in a locked position prior to activation. Upon release of the locking device, the tension of the torsion spring is released, which causes the linkage to move in the channel and slide the needle carriage along the rail device. A catheter carriage may also be provided for actuation by the linkage.

Abstract:
A fluid infusion device is provided with a cannula spring which functions as an introducer needle, a retraction return spring, and a fluid path. A hollow cannula tubing is wound, bent and sharpened into a shape which allows it to operate as an introducer needle, retraction spring and fluid path in an infusion device. A button is used to insert the introducer needle portion of the cannula spring and a soft catheter, and once the introducer needle portion and catheter have been fully inserted, an engagement between the button and post of the base of the infusion device releases the cannula spring such that the introducer needle portion of the cannula spring automatically retracts, leaving the catheter in the body. An end of the introducer needle portion of the cannula spring remains in fluid communication with the catheter in the body to provide an uninterrupted fluid path.

Abstract:
An insulin infusion device (A) is disclosed. The device includes a body (A), cannula () housed in the body (A), a cannula insertion device () and a cannula retraction device (). When the cannula insertion device is activated, the cannula () extends at least partly out of the body (A) and into an infusion site and when the cannula retraction device is activated after the cannula insertion device has been activated, the cannula () retracts into the body (A).

Abstract:
False eyelash apparatus and methods for applying false eyelashes. A false eyelash holder for holding a false eyelash has a support member for supporting the false eyelash and is adjustable to cause inversion of the false eyelash from a convex shape to a substantially concave shape. An inverter-loader device is configured to receive the holder and operable to adjust the holder to cause the false eyelash inversion. An applicator for applying an inverted false eyelash to an eyelid may have a unitary structure or may be a clamp for gripping the inverted false eyelashes. The applicator is operable to carry the inverted false eyelash for allowing the applicator to roll the false eyelash lengthways onto an eyelid and allowing the rolling false eyelash to release from the applicator. The applicator may be disposable.

Give a man a match, and he'll be warm for a minute, but set him on fire, and he'll be warm for the rest of his life.
"We've talked about racism, and about things that happen in our city that are different for children of color, for people of color, than things that I don't have to worry about with my kids, said Alyssa Jackson.
"A lot goes on at night that they don't need to be involved with," said Alyssa Jackson, 20, as she tended to her 9-month-old daughter Madison on one knee. Jackson said her mother had set a similar curfew for her as a child, and she planned to do the same for her own daughter.
