Education:
The University of Texas at Austin 1996 - 2008
PhD, American Studies, PhDHave lived in New York City for many years--where I worked in the visual arts--and was the principle researcher for a major exhibition of the photography collection at The Museum of Modern Art called FAME: After Photography. Also lived in San Francisco where I worked as editorial assistant for the city magazine of SF called San Francisco Focus. I am a writer and editor at heart--have been published mot recently in Texas Monthly, and quite a while back in Psychology Today. Would love to go back to school to study Ayurvedic medicine and kundalini yoga--am fascinated by the growing recognition that western modern medicine can benefit from the model advanced by eastern practitioners.
Baylor University 1985 - 1989
BA, EnglishI traveled to England with Baylor in the British Isles to study the lake poets in their own context. I lived at the University of London in South Kensington at the height of the new wave movement...suffice it to say that it was totally rad. I Also attended the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, RI where I studied illustration and figure drawing and color theory. I loved the experience--most notable was the live nude male and female models whom we regularly sketched to lean the human form. This was a first for me as there were no nudies at Baylor and it took some time before I could bring myself to sketch their private parts; eventually, though it was old hat.
