Abstract:
A method, system, and computer program product for using a federated ontology as an index to enterprise knowledge are provided. The method includes receiving a request for the enterprise knowledge, mapping the request to a concept within the federated ontology, and searching the federated ontology for the concept to identify one or more data sources holding the enterprise knowledge. The method further includes retrieving the enterprise knowledge from the identified one or more data sources as search result data, and returning the search result data.

Abstract:
A method for concept word management. The method comprises receiving an editing request for a text document from a requestor. The editing request includes an initial phrase located in the text document. An ontology associated with the text document is searched for the initial phrase. The initial phrase is distinguished in the text document in response to the initial phrase being located in the ontology and to the editing request further including a distinguish phrase command. An alternate phrase associated with the initial phrase is presented to the requestor in response to the initial phrase being located in the ontology and to the editing request further including a display alternate phrase command. The initial phrase is replaced in the text document with the alternate phrase in response to the editing request further including a replace phrase command.

Abstract:
A method for building a new case or enhancing an established case for inclusion in a case base from log entries. The method includes identifying a current log entry, the current log entry including a status of a current diagnostic process. The method also includes identifying a previous log entry, the previous log entry including a status of either a current diagnostic process or a previous diagnostic process. A determination is made about whether the previous log entry is related to the current log entry. An inquiry is generated to create a link between the previous log entry and the current log entry in response to a determination that the previous log entry is related to the current log entry. The method further includes receiving a request to create a link in response to the inquiry. A link is created between the previous log entry and the current log entry in response to the request resulting in the case.

Abstract:
A method of linking information to an electronically enabled manufactured part archive includes identifying an area of the electronically enabled manufactured part archive, defining the area with a geometric token, and electronically identifying information. The information may relate to at least a portion of a manufactured part which is associated with the identified area of the manufactured part archive. The method may also include electronically associating the information with the identified area and/or the geometric token, wherein the information is adapted for retrieval.

Abstract:
A system and method for converting text related to vehicle service to symptom codes. The method includes typing into work orders and service reports statements that describe the various symptoms and problems of a vehicle that is being serviced. The work orders and service reports are then transmitted to a database facility where they are analyzed. Prior to the reports being analyzed, the text in the work order and service reports is read by a machine reader that converts the text to symptom codes that describe particular vehicle conditions and symptoms. A processor analyzes the codes for patterns and other relationships, and can provide a display of such patterns. Further, the codes and reports are stored in a memory.
