Abstract:

A Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver employs variable spacing of Doppler offset bins and code offset bins when acquiring a P(Y) code, to improve signal acquisition characteristics with respect to a search region having a plurality of Doppler offset bins and code offset bins. The receiver includes an acquisition module in which an input signal representative of a received P(Y) code is received and applied to a first programmable rate mixer. An output of the first programmable rate mixer is applied to a combiner, which selectively combines samples of the input signal based on a control input to dynamically determine the spacing of the code offset bins. An output of the combiner is normalized and applied to a correlation unit, which generates correlation measures of the received P(Y) code and a locally generated P(Y) code. A signal representative of the correlation measures is applied separately to each of a set of programmable rate mixers and mixed with separate mixing signals. The spacing of the Doppler offset bins is dynamically determined by controlling the rates of the mixing signals.

Abstract:

A furniture accessory kit is designed to support portable computers in office partition systems of the type having slat wall panels on which detachable office amenities, such as paper trays, etc. can be hung. A horizontal shelf accessory supports a portable computer thereon, and includes a connector that detachably mounts the shelf to an associated slat wall panel in a cantilevered horizontal orientation. The shelf has a wire trough to mange wiring associated with the portable computer. A method and device for control of a low-cost DC motor such as that suitable for portable or battery-powered applications are disclosed such that an intended behavior for the motor may be programmed without reliance on external equipment or specific expertise. The invention enables programming of a motor controlling device by means of physical manipulation of the motor. Abstract:

Apparatus and methods for adjusting the polarizations of the components of an input beam to reduce leakage caused by imperfections in an interferometer are disclosed. The apparatus includes an interferometer positioned to receive an input beam that includes two components having different frequencies and different polarizations, the interferometer including a polarizing beam splitter positioned to spatially separate the input beam into two intermediate beams, the first intermediate beam corresponding to the first component and the second intermediate beam corresponding to the second component, where imperfections in the interferometer cause leakage of one of the components into the intermediate beam corresponding to the other of the components. The apparatus further includes a polarization compensator that includes at least one retardation plate positioned to adjust the polarizations of the components of the input beam to reduce the leakage caused by the imperfections in the interferometer.
