Abstract:
A smoothing structure containing indium is formed between the substrate and the active region of a III-nitride light emitting device to improve the surface characteristics of the device layers. In some embodiments, the smoothing structure is a single layer, separated from the active region by a spacer layer which typically does not contain indium. The smoothing layer contains a composition of indium lower than the active region, and is typically deposited at a higher temperature than the active region. The spacer layer is typically deposited while reducing the temperature in the reactor from the smoothing layer deposition temperature to the active region deposition temperature. In other embodiments, a graded smoothing region is used to improve the surface characteristics. The smoothing region may have a graded composition, graded dopant concentration, or both.

Viewing Angle-Controlled Displays For Point-Of-Sale Terminals And Methods For Fabricating The Same
A display assembly for a point-of-sale terminal is provided. The display assembly has a liquid crystal display and a touch screen disposed overlying the liquid crystal display. The display assembly also has a viewing angle-controlled device disposed proximate to the touch screen. The viewing angle-controlled device is configured to limit the viewing angles at which said liquid crystal display may be viewed to a restricted range of viewing angles.
Method And System For Rule-Based Generation Of Automation Test Scripts From Abstract Test Case Representation

US Classification:

Abstract:
A general rule-based technique is provided for generating a test case from an abstract internal test case representation. The abstract internal test case representation is based on a test case representation model that includes application states (state information), external interaction sequences (control flow information) and input data. The abstract representation in essence provides a platform independent representation of test cases. An application object model provides the representational capabilities required for capturing structural and behavioral properties of the application under test. Rules can be specified to define which application states (state information), external interaction sequences (control information) and input data sets should be used in the generation of the test case. A technique based on platform mapping is provided to convert a test case into an automation test script for any specific test script execution environment for any specific application platform.

Abstract:
A general technique using semantic analysis is provided that can be used for converting a specific automation test script (and its underlying test case), generated from generally available or proprietary test automation tools, into an abstract test case representation. The abstract test case representation is based on a test case representation model that includes application states (state information), external interaction sequences (control flow information) and input data. The abstract representation in essence provides a platform independent representation of test cases. An application object model provides the representational capabilities required for capturing structural and behavioral properties of the application under test. The abstract test case representation can be validated against and further enriched by specific object information from an application metadata repository. Finally, object information and input data can be separated from control flow information to provide automatic parameterization of the test script.
Growth Of Iii-Nitride Light Emitting Devices On Textured Substrates

Assignee:
Philips Lumileds Lighting Company, LLC - San Jose CA
International Classification:
H01L 31/109
US Classification:

Abstract:
A III-nitride light emitting device is grown on a textured substrate, in order to reduce the amount of total internal reflection at the interface between the substrate and the III-nitride layers. In some embodiments, the device includes a first growth region substantially free of voids, and a second growth region that improves the material quality such that high quality layers can be grown over the first and second regions.
Intravascular Deployment Device With Improved Deployment Capability
Terrance D. Belluche - North Hampton NH, US Scott Doig - Santa Rosa CA, US Hillary K. Huszar - San Francisco CA, US Andrew Kim - San Francisco CA, US Stephen Clark Meier - San Francisco CA, US
Assignee:
Medtronic Vascular, Inc. - Santa Rosa CA
International Classification:
A61F 2/06
US Classification:
623 111
Abstract:
An intravascular delivery catheter includes a middle member or manipulator to ameliorate the effect of buckling of the graft cover during the tracking or positioning of the delivery device within a body flow lumen to deploy an exclusion device, such a stent graft. The delivery device/catheter includes a region or regions of lower resistance to bending than other portions of the delivery device, which are positioned, within the delivery device, to preferentially bend the delivery system at locations where buckling will have minimal effect upon the deployment of the exclusion device from the delivery system. The preferential bending is accomplished, by providing a middle member/manipulator that is a rod with laterally oriented slots, having different depth and spacing configurations, or by using a wire coil as a portion of the middle member where the variable stiffness is created either by providing a variable/multiple coil diameter or by using a wire having a variable diameter along its length while the wire coil diameter is relatively uniform.
Method Of Growing Composite Substrate Using A Relaxed Strained Layer
A method according to embodiments of the invention includes providing an epitaxial structure comprising a donor layer and a strained layer. The epitaxial structure is treated to cause the strained layer to relax. Relaxation of the strained layer causes an in-plane lattice constant of the donor layer to change.
