M.A., Art EducationWriting this guide was a tool to survey the current state of community based art education in Philadelphia - from prisons and after school programs, to community art centers and senior enters. I was able to talk with most directors of these programs, gathering data. At the time, there was little information or existing connective networks for these programs to learn about, and from, each other. Many of the directors I spoke with were eager to have more connection and avenues for information sharing. The project was grounded in theory and research about contemporary issues in community art education across the United States.
