A centrifugal casting machine includes a plurality of split centrifugal molds which are successively brought to a casting station in which the molds are closed, clamped together and rotated rapidly while molten metal is fed through a central sprue to mold cavities therein. For feeding the molten metal, a vacuum chamber is provided at the casting station above the mold, and a feed pipe leading to a reservoir of molten metal extends into the vacuum chamber through a nozzle which discharges into a funnel communicating with the central sprue of the mold. Means are provided to create a vacuum condition within the vacuum chamber, the funnel, nozzle and the mold cavities when the mold is closed and clamped, whereby the molten metal is drawn by a siphoning action through the feed pipe and discharged from the nozzle into the mold cavities. The feed flow of the molten metal is accomplished solely by the vacuum condition which is timed to feed a selected charge of molten metal to the mold cavities.

Abstract:
An earring structure for use with both pierced and non-pierced ears including a generally U-shaped main body member at one end of which is rotatably attached a pivotal post and at the other end of which is rotatably attached a pressure member. The pivotal post can assume a position which merely extends the one end of the main body member when the earring is being used with a non-pierced earlobe. Both of the pressure member and the one end of the main body member define opposed relatively flat surfaces which hold the earlobe therebetween for non-pierced use and the pressure member defines an aperture for receiving the pivotal post for pierced use of the structure. The pivotal post is rotatable to a position perpendicular to the planar surfaces for pierced use.

Abstract:
A method of and apparatus for replicating nest members, each of which has a precisely formed nest cavity for the snug yet removable receipt of an article of jewelry or the like. The method comprises impressing a master pattern having a configuration conforming to the jewelry article to be ultimately held by the nest member into a body of a curable material to form a cavity having a contour which corresponds to the nest cavity of the nest member. The body is cured to a hardened state and then placed on an unvulcanized first rubber mold member so that the impression is directed toward the mold member. The mold member is vulcanized so that a surface thereof takes a configuration which is complementary to that of the impression in the body. Thereafter, a jewelry nest member is cast in a mold comprised of the mold member and a second cooperating mold member, also of rubber. The finished jewelry nest member, therefore, will have a surface cavity whose configuration is precisely that of the nest cavity desired to be formed.
