Abstract:

Wireless repeaters comprising antennae having high electrical isolation are presented. Multi-band antennae are placed on opposing sides of a conductive ground plane to achieve high electrical isolation, preferably higher than 30 dB. The antennae are preferably placed at a distanced from the ground plane that is less than 0. 5 wavelengths of a frequency associated with frequency bands to which the antennae are responsive. The presented antennae system reduces the minimum amount of isolation required for stable operation.

Abstract:

A system and method for distributing multiple wireless carriers to transmission sites is disclosed. Carrier precursors are distributed which are digital in format and compressed in bandwidth. The individual carrier precursors are combined using time division multiplexing to eliminate the need for excess bandwidth allotments. A separate time division multiplexed control channel is created to communicate carrier configuration and operating status information. With the carrier precursor data and configuration information, a software-defined radio is used to create actual carriers at or near the transmission location. Creating carriers at or near the transmission location provides the additional benefit of reducing transmission losses between the transmit antenna and the signal generating radio.

Abstract:

An improved digital radio head system and method for wireless communications is disclosed that simplifies the timing and synchronization between the access network, base station, and radio head. A satellite derived timing source is obtained at one or more of the remote radio heads where it is convenient to obtain and use the timing reference. The reference is transmitted back to the base station, if necessary, to synchronize the two. This is further synchronized at a lower accuracy through the access network.

A wireless repeater comprises dual cancellation loops. The wireless repeater includes an active cancellation loop and a passive cancellation loops. The active cancellation loops reduces an environmentally induced signal component from a receive signal entering the repeater's amplifier. The passive cancellation loop reduces leaked signal component from the received signal.

Abstract:

Management systems wireless repeaters are presented. Contemplated systems can include a local management device that brokers a management lock between the repeater and a controller, which can be either local or remote. Once a management lock is in place, the repeater restricts execution of management commands to those issued by the controller to resolve potentially conflicting commands issued from multiple authorized controllers. In some embodiments, the controller and lock brokering device are the same device.

Abstract:

Docking stations for a wireless device are presented in which a docking station has an antenna that can communicate with the wireless device. The docking station can also have a proximity sensor that can provide a proximity data that indicate a proximity of the wireless device to the docking station. Using the proximity data, the docking station can adjust the power to the antenna such that the amount of power can be dictated based upon the proximity of the wireless device to the docking station. A wireless repeater system is also presented that has a wireless repeater and a docking station with an antenna.
