Abstract:

An apparatus for recording and/or transmitting optical data or visual images includes a recording medium () having a substrate () and markable coating (). The apparatus also includes a recording and transmitting device including a light source () having at least two separate lasers, and a unified apochromatic lens structure () having at least two separate lenses functioning as one structure. The lens structure () enables light beams () to a) pass therethrough onto the medium () with at least two different wavelengths directed to a single spot, so as to cause a localized change in chemical and/or physical properties to form an optically detectable mark () in the markable coating () and/or b) pass therethrough onto the medium () with at least two different wavelengths directed to a single spot, so as to cause an optically detectable mark () to reflect the light beams (). The light beams () have radiation different from a wavelength suitable for forming the optically detectable mark ().

An apparatus includes a recording medium () having substrate () and markable coating ().
