  • Combination Steam And Fuel Oil Supply And Purge Valve With Recirculation Feature

    view source
  • US Patent:
    50904515, Feb 25, 1992
  • Filed:
    May 2, 1991
  • Appl. No.:
    7/700067
  • Inventors:
Bascom F. Buchanan - Sarasota FL
Joseph R. Buchanan - Portland CT
  • Assignee:
ITT Corporation - New York NY
  • International Classification:
    F16K 1116
  • US Classification:
    13763022
  • Abstract:
An improved combination steam and fuel oil supply and purge valve has a steam valve and actuator member which provides for a closed position, a purge operation with communication established between a steam supply line and a discharge line leading to an oil burner, and a burner operation position wherein the actuator portion of the member engages and opens a double-acting oil supply and recirculation valve member and thus establishes communication between an oil supply line and an oil discharge line to the burner. In its closed position the oil supply and recirculation valve member provides for communication between the oil supply line and a recirculation line which redirects oil to a storage tank or the like for reheating and for maintenance of a desired viscosity during burner shutdown.

  • Appl. No.:
    7/493217
  • Inventors:
Bascom F. Buchanan - Sarasota FL
Joseph R. Buchanan - Portland CT
  • Assignee:
ITT Corporation - New York NY
  • International Classification:
    F16K 1116
  • US Classification:
    137597
  • Abstract:
A steam and fuel oil supply and purge valve has a steam valve and actuator member which provides for a closed position, a purge operation with communication established between a steam supply line and a discharge line leading to an oil burner, a burner operation position wherein the actuator portion of the member engages and opens an oil supply valve member and thus establishes communication between an oil supply line and an oil discharge line to the burner. Oil recirculation is also provided together with a "cooling" steam feature. The latter is provided by the steam valve and actuator at an additional position where a metered flow of "cooling" steam is provided for inoperative burner tips when other burners remain in operation.
  • Steam And Fuel Oil Control And Purge Valve

    view source
  • US Patent:
    41460561, Mar 27, 1979
  • Filed:
    Nov 3, 1977
  • Appl. No.:
    5/848137
  • Inventors:
Bascom F. Buchanan - Portland CT
  • International Classification:
    F16K 1116
  • US Classification:
    13763022
  • Abstract:
A steam and fuel oil control and purge valve has a body which defines generally radial steam and oil inlet and discharge ports, in top-to-bottom order coaxial generally cylindrical steam discharge and inlet chambers and oil discharge and inlet chambers, and three coaxial smaller cylindrical openings in top-to-bottom order respectively between the steam discharge and inlet chamber, the steam inlet and oil discharge chamber, and the oil discharge and inlet chambers. A cylindrical steam valve and actuator is slidable in the opening between the steam inlet and oil discharge chambers and has axially spaced upper and lower radial openings and an internal interconnecting axial passageway. In its closed position, a seating surface at an upper end of the valve and actuator closes the upper cylindrical opening between the steam discharge and inlet chambers and the lower radial opening in the valve and actuator is closed by the wall of the intermediate cylindrical opening in the valve body. In a partially open purge position, the upper and lower valve and actuator openings communicate respectively with the steam inlet and oil discharge chambers to steam purge the fuel oil line.
