Abstract:

A system and method for designing an HVAC system using a database to manage values of properties corresponding to design elements. Elements include substantially all physical components and connections available for creating an HVAC system design. A user interface represents design elements arbitrarily selectable by a user and connectable to one another in a schematic to establish the HVAC system design. The system may provide, automatically, default values corresponding to the properties corresponding to the design elements. A user may select arbitrarily, from the design elements, an arbitrary number of selected design elements to be interconnected in the HVAC system design. A user may place and interconnect each arbitrary design element, while the system calculates, automatically, values of properties characterizing the arbitrary design elements; validating correctness of the interconnections and properties, calculating performance parameters, and providing drawings.

Abstract:

A method for designing an HVAC system. The method may comprising operating a computer program to create a virtual floor plan, detecting automatically, by the computer program, an enclosed space within the virtual floor plan, and calculating automatically, by the computer program after the detecting, a load corresponding to the enclosed space. The method may further include providing, by the computer program, a palette of HVAC components, instructing the computer program to assign at least one HVAC component from the palette to the enclosed space, and assigning automatically, by the computer program, a capacity to the at least one HVAC component, the capacity corresponding to the load calculated for the enclosed space.

Abstract:

An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for selecting a finish for applying to an item. The apparatus includes a flexible translucent sheet, and at least one semi-translucent color applied to the translucent sheet such that a surface to which the translucent sheet is attached is visible through the translucent sheet and the semi-translucent color. The system includes the apparatus and a protective laminate surface covering the at least one semi-translucent color. The method includes providing a plurality of translucent sheets each having at least one semi-translucent color, examining an item to determine the type of finish of the item, selecting a flexible translucent sheet according to the finish of the item, conforming and affixing the selected translucent sheet to the surface of the item, and viewing the surface of the item through the selected translucent sheet.
