Abstract:
A device and method of ventilating a patient reduces the bias flow relative to existing oscillatory ventilators. The device has an oscillator, and an oscillating line having a first end in sealing relationship with the oscillator. A gas supply line is connected to the oscillating line, and a patient line is connected to a second end of the oscillating line. An outlet valve is in pneumatic communication with the patient line. A method of ventilating using such a device is also disclosed.

Abstract:
Disclosed are methods for reducing the injury to tissues, cells, microorganisms or lipids caused by free radicals. The method comprises exposing a composition comprising perfluorocarbon to the tissue, cell, microorganism or lipids in need of such a treatment. Perfluorocarbons may be used neat in solutions, as gases or as emulsions.

Abstract:
A device and method of ventilating a patient reduces the bias flow relative to existing oscillatory ventilators. The device has a gas flow circuit including an oscillating line, a patient line and an exhalation or a return line. A gas supply line and an outlet valve are in pneumatic communication with the gas flow circuit. One or more COscrubbers and one or more check valves are provided in the circuit. A method of ventilating using such a device is also disclosed.

Abstract:
A method of delivering a particulate therapeutic agent is disclosed. Such a method may include providing a carbon dioxide scrubber in pneumatic communication with the respiratory system of a patient. Gas and particulate therapeutic agent expired by the patient are passed through the scrubber to provide treated gas, and the treated gas and particulate therapeutic agent are provided back to the respiratory system.
The invention includes a partial gas separator, which may include a housing and a movable divider in the housing. A method according to the invention may provide a partial gas separator and gas may be moved to or from the housing. While moving gas to or from the housing, the movable divider may be allowed to move with the flow of gas.

Abstract:
A gas delivery system and a method of delivering gas are disclosed. In one such system there is a housing and a displaceable partition. The housing may be divided by the partition into a respirator side and a patient side. The partition may have one or more holes extending through the partition to allow gas to move from one side of the partition to the other side of the partition.

Abstract:
A device, system, and method for isolating a ventilator from one or more patients in which the delivery conditions of gas delivered to an isolation device from a ventilator may drive the delivery of breathing-gas delivered to one or more patients, the breathing-gas having the same or different delivery conditions. In one embodiment, an isolation device may have a housing and a movable partition. The movable partition may be joined to the housing, The movable partition may have a patient side on a first side of the partition and an actuating side on a second side of the partition. The isolation device may include an inlet pressure regulator on the actuating side and/or an exhaust pressure regulator on the patient side. These regulators may alter the delivery conditions (including, but not limited to, pressure and volume) of breathing-gas delivered to a patient.
