Abstract:

A system and method for selecting portions of content, and media content sets to be delivered over a packet based network is provided. The selected portions of content (such as a web page) may be keywords such as a word or a group of words. The media content sets may include one or more of video content (that may include an audio portion), audio content, graphics, images, or other multimedia or single media content. The media content set may include advertising, informational, business, educational, governmental, institutional, customized (e. g. , personalized) content and/or other content. According to an example embodiment, the present invention provides a heuristic model employing a piece-wise linear optimization function to select keywords and the media content sets for delivery by a media delivery provider.

Abstract:

A method and system for syndicating content via a plurality of publication venues is provided. In one embodiment the method includes storing in a memory a plurality of videos; storing a content identifier (ID) for each of the plurality of videos; storing a syndication ID for each of the plurality of publication venues, wherein at least some of the plurality of publications venues act as a referring venue for other publication venues; and storing information sufficient to identify the referring venue for the other publication venues. The method may further comprise receiving a syndication request for a first video from a requester, wherein the request includes a first content ID for the first video and a first syndication ID; generating code that includes the first content ID and a second syndication ID; associating the first content ID, the first syndication ID and the second syndication ID in a memory; and providing the code to the requester.

Abstract:

A system and method of providing sequential video and contextual based content to an end user viewing video content in a video player on an end user computing device is provided. In one embodiment, the method comprises storing a plurality of videos in a memory, storing a plurality of advertisements in a memory, receiving a plurality of requests from a plurality of different clients and wherein each request includes information identifying a first video and each of the plurality of clients initiates its request from one of a plurality of web pages and wherein the plurality of web pages form part of a plurality of different web sites. In addition, the plurality of web pages may include program code configured to cause a video to be presented in the video player. The method further comprises for each received request, selecting a plurality of videos based on information of the first video; and selecting a plurality of advertisements, wherein at least one of the plurality of advertisements is selected based on information of the first video and at least one of the plurality of advertisements is selected based on information of a selected video. In addition, the method may comprise for each received request, transmitting the plurality of videos to the requesting client for sequential presentation by the client; and transmitting the plurality of advertisements to the requesting client and wherein at least some of the plurality of advertisements are configured to be presented concurrently with a received video.

Abstract:

A system and method of providing contextual content to an end user viewing a video in a video player in a client is provided. In one embodiment the system and method of provides contextual content via an interactive video skin to an end user viewing a video in a client. These video skin may surround the viewing portal and (1) provide contextual information in the areas outside the video viewing area, (2) embody logic that manipulates the video stream to insert audio, text, graphics, and/or video, (3) interact with third party servers, (4) interact with the user via menus, buttons, and/or graphical widgets, or (5) any combination thereof. In one embodiment, the method may comprise determining contextual data for the end user that comprises one or more of: geographical information of the end user; demographical information of the end user; personal information of the end user, video metadata, and technical data related to the end user's computer or the network to which the computer is connected. Next, the method may include determining advertising content to present to the end user based on the contextual data and presenting the advertising content to the end user concurrently with the video player such as along a periphery of the video player. The advertising content may include a user input mechanism configured to receive information from the end user in which case the method may further include receiving information from the end user via the input mechanism, determining secondary content to present to the user based on the received information, and presenting the secondary content to the end user. The method may also include receiving one or more content elements selected based on the contextual data and supplying the one or more content elements to the video player for integration into the video to thereby customize the video.

Abstract:

A method, product, and system for facilitating the searching of video content from a plurality of different websites is provided. In one embodiment the method includes storing a plurality of videos in a memory, and storing video guide data for a video guide that comprises executable program code that is executable to provide a search input and a content area for displaying descriptive data of a search result. The method further comprises supplying the executable program code to a plurality of clients, receiving a plurality of requests for video guide data originating from the plurality of clients and wherein the plurality of requests are initiated from different web pages of a plurality of different websites. The method further includes, for each request for video guide data, transmitting video guide data to a client originating the request, receiving a plurality of search requests from the plurality of different clients initiated from a video guide; for each search request, performing a search of the plurality of videos based on the search request, and for each search request, transmitting search results to the client originating the search request for display by the video guide. The video guide data may comprise information for configuring the appearance of a variable display element of the video guide, and the method may further include for each request for video guide data identifying the video guide data to be transmitted.
