Spanish Speaker (Beginning) 1 to 2 Years I took one semester of Spanish at Northwest University as well as a 5-credit Spanish Language Intensive course during my semester abroad in Costa Rica. I also got to speak Spanish with my host family as well as everyone, everywhere I went for six months in Central America. I have been looking for ways to utilize my Spanish proficiency more often now that I am living back in the States. I plan on taking more Spanish courses. It is important for me to be fluent so that I can work effectively within the Latino communities both in Seattle and abroad. This is one major focus of my next year. Computer Proficiency (Intermediate) 3 to 5 Years I am proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel. I am a fast typist and experienced writer and blogger. I have experience in very basic web design and content as well. Freelance and Professional Photography (Advanced) 6 or more Years I have done a lot of freelance and professional photography ranging from engagement pictures and weddings to website photos for local coffee shops and personal enjoyment. I also keep a blog periodically to stay sharp on my writing skills and have a place to share my travels, thoughts and photos. Photography is one of my greatest passions and assets and something I plan on always weaving into whatever I am doing, wherever I am working. Cooking and Food Service (Intermediate) 3 to 5 Years I have a good deal of experience with food service. I worked as a line cook and waiter for several years after high school. I also do a lot of food preparation at the cafe where I work. I have a valid food handler's permit as well. Gardening, Farming, Carpentry and Basic Construction I have a background in small-scale farming. I have several years of hands-on experience with the basic practices of composting, soil rebuilding, tilling, planting, harvesting, canning, food preparation and such. I've built several greenhouses and other structures like fences and outbuildings. I have milked goats and cows, cared for chickens and geese, groomed and ridden horses. I've cut, bailed and bucked hay. I have experience operating a variety of farm machinery including tractors, posthole diggers, 4-wheelers and chainsaws. I also have years of experience in construction and carpentry, including tile work, interior and exterior finish and framing.
