Abstract:

An asset recovery system and method is provided for recovering value from shipped products that are returned and/or rejected by the purchaser or recipient. The system and method include inspecting the rejected or returned product at a returns center, assessing the cost to repair or refurbish the product. If the assessment is within a predetermined cost structure the product is repaired or refurbished and placed in a saleable item inventory for resale to a customer. If the assessment is outside the predetermined cost structure, the product is liquidated.

Abstract:

An automatic self-protecting hypodermic needle assembly comprising a hypodermic syringe having a housing, a moveable plunger in the housing, a medicant chamber formed between the housing and the plunger, and a hollow needle extending from the housing in communication with the medicant chamber. A needle guard assembly is attached to the syringe housing and includes a guard housing adjacent the needle, a protective cap removably attached to the guard housing and an aperture through which the needle extends. A propellant is located in the guard housing in communication with the protective cap. When activated by an activating element, the propellant expands from a liquid to a gas, applies a pressure to the protective cap, and drives the protective cap along the length of the needle until the cap extends beyond the tip of the needle and the needle tip becomes embedded in the protective cap. Control means are provided under the operation of the medical attendant using the hypodermic syringe to automatically activate the propellant upon completion of the use of the syringe, and to embed the needle tip into the protective cap.

A mobile, touchless washing station capable of providing on-demand heated water is provided. Abstract:

A new and improved method and apparatus for use in conjunction with the free floating paving screed used for road paving is disclosed. The method of forming a bituminous mixture into a smooth flat paved mat comprising some areas with a given nominal mat density and some selected areas with a predeterminedly higher mat density is described wherein problems posed by a reduced compaction ratio occurring subsequently to paving the mat where the roller drum bridges over recesses in the subbase are addressed. The modified paving screed described employs a new adjustable screed plate that allows localized areas of increased angle of attack and a device to increased material entry density in localized areas in front of a screed plate leading edge. Either method is used to create an increase in mat density in the desired area. The method and apparatus teach that by pairing differences in compaction ratio that inherently occur due to subbase irregularities with correspondingly predetermined and different mat densities in the paved mat, a good consistent final density can be achieved notwithstanding the limitations of the compaction rolling. A forward looking vision system is described that identifies subbase recesses, a digital controller quantifies the density increase required, and a GPS system maps locations where the mat density increases are to be applied.
