Abstract:

An automated expert system that uses split-run and factorial design methods to determine which factors are most important in an experiment. The expert system is architected into Design, Execute and Evaluate phases, to assist a user in developing a Factorial Design experiment in which one, two or three factors are tested simultaneously. In a preferred embodiment, a database infrastructure and web client, browser-based methodology functions as the expert system (a “wizard”) to design experiments, build control groups and evaluate results, all with the goal of discovering what values for which factors will yield the optimum response from subjects.

A process for predicting response rates, such as to a marketing campaign. In general, the process involves collecting data concerning past transactions; using past transaction data to identify bins, or groups, of customers exhibiting similar purchase behavior in the past; summarizing (statistically) the average purchase behavior for each bin of customers and compiling the bin statistics for use in campaign planning; assign customers to appropriate bins (previously identified and statistically described) based on their past and most recent purchasing records; using the previously calculated bin statistics to estimate the likely number of purchasers and expected average revenue for each bin of customers; calculating a predicted total revenue by summing expected average revenues for each bin; calculating a predicted response rate; executing the marketing campaign; collecting data for new transactions; comparing the predicted and actual revenue and response rates; and using these comparisons to adjust and improve the methods of prediction for use in future campaigns.

An automated, unified, interactive system and methods for marketing. After a Marketer uploads transaction and customer data, the system automatically analyzes this data to predict at least one of the group consisting of purchase probabilities, likely buyers, up-sell opportunities, cross-sell opportunities, and potential defectors; selects a marketing campaign and customers to target in that marketing campaign, the step of selecting customers being based upon results from the step of analyzing customer and transaction data; predicts anticipated response rate and/or revenue from the marketing campaign; delivers at least one list of the customers to target, wherein the list of customers further comprises customer records; supplies an expert system to test elements of the campaigns such as targeting and offers; and collects fees based on a number of the records downloaded.

Abstract:

Apparatuses and methods for identifying and characterizing an impingement by electromagnetic radiation on a structure's surface. An array of input and output radiofrequency transmission lines are connected by photoconductive switches that conduct only when exposed to incident electromagnetic radiation. Each input line is assigned a unique input RF frequency. If a switch is exposed to radiation, the connection between the corresponding input and output lines closes, and an RF signal is output from the output port connected to the closed switch, while if the switch is not exposed to the incident radiation, the connection remains open and no RF signal is output. By analyzing the frequencies of the signals output at a port, the location of the radiation incident on the structure can be determined.
