Abstract:
A new and improved tape rule that increases stiffness and standout length over standard tape rules is disclosed. The tape rule includes a primary rule and a secondary rule, the secondary rule providing increased strength. This invention can provide a variety of benefits, including increased blade flexibility while performing short extension related tasks, increased standout and reduced sag while performing tasks requiring longer extensions, reduced size and weight for tasks requiring the longest extensions and adds the ability to utilize alternate measurement methods or units and built in computational references.

Abstract:
A leak detector is disclosed. The optical leak detector may include a sensor module for transmitting and receiving signals corresponding to the surface level of a monitored fluid and include leak detection logic for detecting a leak signature. The leak detection logic may be configured to determine if fluid contained in a tank is in a non-full state outside of a normal state and activate an alarm.

Abstract:
An alignment device provides one or more references, such as laser lines and planes in horizontal and vertical orientations. One version of the alignment device includes an optics mounting assembly situated in a pivot socket on a frame to provide an output beam. A spring system and one or more alignment assemblies align and secure the optics mounting assembly in the socket. As a result, the output beam has a desired orientation with respect to true level. The spring system holds the optics mounting assembly in communication with the alignment assemblies to reduce system backlash. One implementation of the pivot socket has a surface in the form of a sphere's interior surface. A set of support members on the optics mounting assembly rest on the pivot socket's spherical surface—causing the output reference beam to extend from the center of a sphere including the socket's spherical surface. This reduces the translation of the output reference beam's origin when the optics mounting assembly pivots in the socket.

Abstract:
A force measuring apparatus uses a flexible cantilever beam engaging a tool at one end and a handle at the other end so that a force, normal to the beam, can be applied and delivered to the tool. Mounted in spaced apart longitudinal alignment on each side of the beam, is a tensioned wire, and a vibratory modulator in electromagnetic communication with the wire causing the wire to vibrate. A vibratory sensor is also positioned on each side of the beam in sensory communication with each respective wire. An electrical circuit is functionally enabled for receiving electrical signals from the vibratory sensor, the signals corresponding to a vibratory frequency of each of the wires, and for controlling the vibratory modulators to maintain the wires at resonant vibratory frequency, and for measuring a differential vibratory frequency between the wires, and finally, for calculating the magnitude of a force applied to the beam in such direction that one of the wires is incrementally further tensioned and the other of the wires is incrementally relaxed. The force magnitude is displayed on the apparatus.

Abstract:
A power cutting tool, such as a table saw, comprising a sensing system for detecting certain conditions with respect to an exposed blade of the power cutting tool is disclosed. Several embodiments of the sensing system comprise at least one sensor located above the blade and positioned to (1) monitor one or more volume zones adjacent the blade, (2) detect when an object enters one or more of the zones, and (3) trigger a reaction system in response to the detection. Another embodiment uses an optical sensor to measure the height of objects approaching the blade to detect an increase in the height beyond a predetermined threshold. Still another embodiment uses an optical distance sensor to detect the occurrence of a work piece lifting from the table top which can indicate that a kick-back condition is imminent. The reaction system can be triggered when such a condition is detected.

Dr. Brian Lamb, who practices internal medicine at West Penn Medical Associates, said patients should know they can go to their doctors office for a vaccine without much notice. They typically dont have to make an appointment and wait.
"If you don't wash your hands afterwards, innocently touching your mouth or touching something that comes in contact with your mouth, you're able to get it," Dr. Brian Lamb, from West Penn Medical Associates, told CBS Pittsburgh.
