Abstract:

A unitary personal computer system in information handling elements of the system such as the central processor, associated memory, drives and options such as modems or network interface cards are housed in a common housing with the display or monitor. Provision is made for access to the information handling elements of the system by release of manually actuable latches and the like and for mounting of the information handling elements in ways which facilitate orderly and attractive use, such as by providing smooth transitions between stowed and active positions and ready adjustment of positions.

Abstract:

A substantially rigid card having a first side and an opposing second side, a first connector end adapted to mate with a first expansion connector on a circuit board and a second connector end adapted to mate with a second expansion connector on the board. A first peripheral card connector is connected to the first side and electrically connected to the first connector end, wherein the first connector is of a first form factor and adapted to mate with a first peripheral card. A second peripheral card connector is connected to the second side and electrically connected to the second connector end, wherein the second connector is of a second form factor different from the first form factor and matable with a second peripheral card. Abstract:

An ergonomic computer mouse has an arcuate top surface, a front end, a rear end, and left and right sidewalls. The top surface has a circular side view profile that extends from the front end to the rear end and is contiguous with finger buttons on the mouse. The surface of the left or thumb sidewall is uniquely contoured for the left side of the user's hand and thumb. A large thumb ball support protrudes from the rear half of the left sidewall at an incline. The thumb ball support and rear end have a circular shape when viewed from above. The left sidewall also has a concave thumb channel for the thumb of the user. An elongated thumb button is located above the thumb channel in order to avoid accidental thumb button actuations. The mouse also has a pair of finger buttons and a scroll tab at the front of its top surface. Each of these features on the mouse are ergonomically designed to conform to the natural shapes and positions of the user's hand during use.

Abstract:

The present invention provides a checkout system which comprises an item accumulation (bagging) area which is partitioned into two or more sections using a flexible divider. The flexible divider extends from the entry zone of the accumulation area to a point on the boundary of the accumulation zone, but is longer than required to achieve this. When items are introduced into one section of the bagging area, if the items push against the flexible divider, for example due to weight of numbers, the divider flexes into the other section thereby making more space available in the current section for the items. Optionally the flexible divider is movable between two positions in the entry zone such that it further acts as a diverter for diverting items into one or other of the two sections and preferably a motor is used to automatically perform the movement.

Abstract:

A mounting device for computer peripheral equipment. Preferably included are two spring arms, friction boots mounted on the ends of the spring arms, a non-skid pad and a rotating platform. The rotating platform ensures that the non-skid pad can be positioned between a first position, where the pad and friction boots cooperate to grip computer display bezels over a first range of bezel thicknesses and a second position, where the pad and friction boots cooperated to grip computer display bezels over a second range of bezel thicknesses. Also, the pad and friction boots are preferably dimensioned so as to render the entire mounting device self-standing when desired.
