Abstract:

Signatures that can be used to identify video and audio content are generated from the content by generating measures of dissimilarity between features of corresponding groups of pixels in frames of video content and by generating low-resolution time-frequency representations of audio segments. The signatures are generated by applying a hash function to intermediate values derived from the measures of dissimilarity and to the low-resolution time-frequency representations. The generated signatures may be used in a variety of applications such as restoring synchronization between video and audio content streams and identifying copies of original video and audio content. The generated signatures can provide reliable identifications despite intentional and unintentional modifications to the content.

Promoting a candidate content item included in a plurality of content items is disclosed. A plurality of user reputation scores is received. For the candidate content item in the plurality of candidate content items, a content reputation score is determined based at least in part on a portion of the received user reputation scores. Abstract:

The invention relates in general to low bit-rate encoding and decoding of information such as audio information. More particularly, the invention relates to computationally efficient adaptive bit allocation and quantization of encoded information useful in high-quality low bit-rate coding systems. In one embodiment, an audio split-band encoder splits an input signal into frequency subband signals, quantizes the subband signals according to values established by an allocation function, and assembles the quantized subband signals into an encoded signal. The allocation function establishes allocation values in accordance with psychoacoustic principles based upon a masking threshold. The masking threshold is established by estimating the power spectral density (PSD) of the input signal, generating an excitation pattern by applying a spreading function to the PSD, adjusting the excitation pattern by an amount equal to a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) offset sufficient to achieve psychoacoustic masking, comparing the level of the adjusted pattern to the threshold of hearing and generating a masking threshold which is equal to the larger of the two. The spreading function may be implemented by applying one or more IIR filters to the input signal PSD.

Abstract:

Systems and methods are provided for query and index optimization for retrieving data in instances of a formulation data structure from a database. The methods include presenting an information source for searching for the presence of formulations and generating formulation data from field entries. The formulation data is associated with found formulations. The methods include generating an instance of a formulation data structure. The instance of the formulation data structure associates the information source with the found formulations. The methods include creating optimized index data from retrieved data in the instance of the formulation data structure. The optimized index data includes a mapping between potential search-field terms and the formulation data, and is grouped based on a predicted access pattern. The methods include running a search query across the optimized index data and providing information associated with an information source associated with retrieved data in an instance of a formulation data structure.
