Abstract:
A hemostasis valve apparatus includes (i) a valve body having a lumen therethrough; (ii) a first resiliently deformable seal disposed within the valve body; and (iii) a plunger having a lumen extending therethrough. A passageway extends through the lumens of the plunger and valve body. A cap movably coupled to the valve body selectively moves the plunger along the valve body, thereby selectively compressing the seal. A connector coupled to the plunger is configured to couple the plunger in fluid communication with a fluid delivery means for delivering fluid to the valve. The valve has a substantially linear configuration for convenient storage and use. The valve also features a second seal for sealing the passageway extending through the lumens.

Abstract:
A valve apparatus comprising a tubular body having a lumen therethrough and which is adapted for accessing the cardiovascular or other intravenous system of a patient. The body includes a compression chamber communicating with the lumen and adapted to cooperate with a seal. The compressible seal being configured to selectively seal and unseal the lumen in response to a compressive force acting on the seal. The seal having a longitudinal passageway therethrough that communicates with the lumen and is selectively sealed and unsealed in response to changes in the compressive force generated by a plunger assembly. The plunger assembly is configured to apply a certain amount of compressive force on the seal via the engagement of a rotating member and an engagement member under the influence of a rotating end cap. A selecting mechanism comprising a selecting lever and a selecting assembly is movably coupled to the tubular body and communicates with the plunger assembly. The selecting mechanism is configured to selectively vary the compressive force applied by the plunger assembly on the compressible seal, thereby moving the seal from a selectively adjusted position or inactivated position and a sealed or activated position and maintaining the seal in the sealed or activated position.

Abstract:
A self-suturing anchor device includes rotatable ring adapted to automatically deploy sutures to secure a catheter. The rotatable ring is utilized in connection with a ratchet mechanism which allows movement of the rotatable ring in a first direction while preventing movement of the rotatable ring in the opposite direction. The rotatable ring is also utilized in connection with a bearing member to facilitate smooth and efficient rotation of the rotatable ring. An extension saddle is utilized to provide a desired amount of displacement between suture securement points to minimize pivotal movement of the catheter. The rotatable ring is wider than its height to minimize kinking of the catheter tube and to relieve pressure when pressed between the patient and a support surface. In another embodiment, a plurality of scallops or other gripping members are utilized to facilitate easy gripping and rotation of the rotatable ring.

Abstract:
A self-suturing anchor device includes a base having a securement mechanism. The securement mechanism includes one or more resilient pockets in which are placed a plurality of looped sutures. The securement mechanism and looped sutures facilitate automatic securement of a catheter relative to the self-suturing anchor device. In at least one embodiment, the looped sutures are also threaded through loops in another corresponding looped suture, such that each looped sutures slidably tighten in concert with one another. When at least a portion of the securement mechanism is moved, at least one of the plurality of looped sutures is tensioned and closes against a securement point on the catheter. A catheter can be secured in a self-suturing anchor device in a quick and efficient manner with minimal effort.

Abstract:
A catheter securement device which automatically deploys one or more sutures to secure a catheter without requiring the practitioner to manually suture the catheter to the self-suturing anchor device. A ratchet mechanism having one or more rotatable ratchet members which pivot and a ratchet member engagement spring which maintains contact between the teeth of the rotatable ratchet member and the teeth of the ratchet ring. An O-ring is provided to maintain the position of the sutures to minimize disruption of the sutures before deployment of the sutures. In one embodiment, a stationary base of the anchor device comprises a single molded member. In another embodiment a method of manufacturing the catheter anchor device comprising welding a rotatable ring and one or more bearing members of the catheter anchor device through access bores in the stationary base.

Abstract:
A catheter anchor device for use with a catheter includes an adhesive layer configured to be secured to the skin of the patient proximate the catheter insertion site, a stationary base secured to the adhesive layer, a rotatable ring coupled to the stationary base and circumscribing the stationary base such that the rotatable outer ring can be rotated by the user relative to the stationary base, a first suture including a loop portion and first and second ends, the loop portion looping around a catheter when the anchor device is in place relative to the catheter insertion site, and a pull handle including first and second separable pull tabs, the pull handle being coupled to the first and second ends of the first suture, the pull handle being configured such that actuation of the pull handle actuates first suture to secure the catheter relative to the rotatable ring.
