Decorative scrolls for metal fence posts are fabricated of plastic material, and have outer face plates with interior and exterior walls. Scroll members on the interior walls are spaced apart at flat sections to engage the post, and frictionally grip the same. Additional fastening means on the scroll members also engage the back side of the post.
A fence comprises a series of vertical metallic posts connected by horizontal stringers, the posts having rectangular top portions. A non-metallic spear point is provided for each post, the spear points having assembly chambers whereby they fit about the top portions of the posts. The chamber walls are inclined to produce a wedge fit. In an assembly method hereof the top portions are supplied with a mastic, and the spear points driven on thereafter to produce a permanent bond.
A hub is employed in forming an ornamental sunburst from a plurality of spokes. The hub includes an annular base plate and an outer hub having a tubular rim and an outer wall. Radially spaced wedge members on the interior surface of the outer wall define spaces for the spokes, and the base plate is engaged over the spokes and wedge members.
A bracket for mounting a mail box or the like has a pair of substantially identical upper and lower plate numbers each having surrounding walls. A series of open housings project from the plate members, and are interconnected to one another and to the walls by reinforcing ribs. The housings have interior vertical splines, and elongated posts are engaged in aligned pairs of the housings and frictionally locked therein by the splines. The lower plate member is embedded in the earth along with portions of the posts, and a mailbox is secured to the exposed, upper plate member.
A post anchor system for embedded posts has a plurality of post anchors formed preferably of a non-metallic material. Each anchor has a tubular main sleeve with interior splines to engage the post. A disc member extends horizontally from a midlength position on the sleeve and upper and lower radial fin members extend from the sleeve and are also joined to the disc. The fin members are positioned at space locations relative to one another so as to present maximum resistance to movement of the embedded post in the earth.
