Abstract:

A unique time-domain electromagnetic system and data processing technique which, using low frequency electromagnetic fields, can localize, in three-dimensions, the position of buried metallic objects is disclosed. The measurement system uses time-domain electromagnetic techniques on a scanning frame similar to a X-Y plotter. The system collects magnetic data over a large area above the buried object. The spatial information of the field detected on the ground is then processed with an unique ânearfield holographicâ data processing method to reconstruct the field image of the buried object.

Abstract:

A system and method for monitoring the alertness of a subject are provided. A Doppler sensor is disposed to sense a parameter pertaining to the subject, the sensor being one of an acoustic sensor and a microwave sensor. Signals from the sensor are processed through an alertness monitoring algorithm for generating processed signals. It is thereafter determined whether an impairment of alertness event pertaining to the subject has occurred based on the processed signals. Feedback is then provided to the subject based on a determination of whether an impairment of alertness event pertaining to the subject has occurred.

Abstract:

A detonation timing apparatus and method of determining a detonation time is disclosed. The detonation timing apparatus comprises an initiation sensor, at least one impact sensor, and at least one controller. The at least one controller may be configured for sensing an initiation event associated with the initiation sensor and sensing an impact event associated with the at least one impact sensor. The at least one controller is further configured for determining an impact velocity estimate proportional to a temporal difference between the initiation event and the impact event, using the impact velocity estimate to determine the detonation delay, and generating the detonation event at the detonation delay after the impact event. The timing apparatus and method of determining a detonation time may be incorporated in a fuze, which may be incorporated in an explosive projectile.

Abstract:

A conductive adhesive composition is provided and articles that include the adhesive composition as a component thereof. The conductive adhesive composition comprises: (a) pressure sensitive adhesive; (b) electrolyte comprising water soluble or water dispersible organic chloride; and (c) humectant. In some embodiments, the conductive adhesive composition is a bicontinuous composition comprising an aqueous phase and an oil phase, and the bicontinuous composition may be derived from a polymerizable microemulsion composition, the microemulsion composition comprising: an aqueous phase comprising one or more hydrophilic monomers or oligomers and/or one or more amphiphilic monomers or oligomers in water, the water-soluble or water-dispersible organic chloride, surfactant and humectant; and an oil phase comprising one or more hydrophobic monomers or oligomers.
