Interests:
Family caregiving: Research on information behaviors can inform practice and policy for healthcare and other organizations. While there is interest and need for research along the life spectrum, I am most interested in the families of hospitalized children and aging parents.
Several projects are ongoing in the broad area of Evidence-based practice in librarianship. First, I am working with a MLA Research Section subcommittee to interpret survey responses about research applied in practice. Second, I am trying to wrap my head around critical evaluation tools for LIS research literature; I'd developed a bibliometric tool and would like to see what else might be done to support library practitioners' (and students') ability to identify and evaluate research in our own field.
Honor & Awards:
2003 Student Paper of the Year, Libri journal
2005 First place for research, MLA Research Section
2006 Second place for research, MLA Research Section
2007 Nominee, Randy Brenner Consumer Health Award for outstanding consumer health librarianship
