Abstract:

A network update interface is presented to a user on a network to display network updates from other users of a mutual social-networking site. The network updates shared by the other users are gathered in a stream and supplied to a facet-filtering system including a network update interface. The user controls the display of certain network update items according to facet-filter characteristics enabled in facet-filter selection panels in the network update interface. The facet-filter characteristics are used by a facet filter to select certain network updates for display to the user in the network update interface. Trending links to further articles with content corresponding to the facet-filter characteristics are displayed to the user according to greatest popularity among the other users. Links to the profiles of the users sharing the articles are also provided in the network update interface.

Abstract:

A system, method, and computer readable medium includes obtaining activities of members of the online social networking system and social graph data of the members and computing an influence score for one of the members by combing an access to content score with an activities score. The access to content score is based on a number of social graph connections of the one of the members with other members and the activities score is based on a number of activities by the member with content items posted to the online social networking system by other members and activities by other members with content items posted by the member. A user interface displays a user interface screen to display the influence score in relation to the member and, in response to a selection, displays an influence score calculation screen including graphical illustrations of the access to content and activities scores.

Abstract:

Techniques for determining online content to provide to a member of an online social networking service based on their explicit and/or inferred intent are described. According to various embodiments, member profile data and user behavior log data associated with a member of an online social networking service is accessed. Based on the accessed data and a plurality of trained intent-specific machine learning models, a plurality of intent prioritization scores associated with a plurality of intents are generated, each intent prioritization score indicating an inferred likelihood that a member of the online social networking service is utilizing the online social networking service in connection with the corresponding intent. Thereafter, the plurality of intents are ranked, based on the plurality of intent prioritization scores, and one or more of the highest ranked intents are selected and displayed to the member.

Methods and systems of providing a guided navigation experience are described. According to various embodiments, a first type of use case may be determined for a first use of a website by a user. The first type of use case may be determined amongst a plurality of types of use cases. A first navigation recommendation may be determined based on the determined first type of use case. The first navigation recommendation may comprise a recommendation for the user to navigate to a first content on the website. The first navigation recommendation may be caused to be displayed to the user. In some embodiments, the plurality of types of use cases may comprise at least one of viewing an update of a profile of another user, viewing an event associated with the profile of another user, performing a job search, and participating in or viewing a discussion.

Abstract:

A system for visualizing the reach of a post by a member of an on-line social networking system may be designed to increase awareness of the members, as to which degree their posted updates are noticed and reacted to by other members. When a member creates a post, either through the on-line social networking website itself or through an application programming interface (API) that allows to include a share user interface (UI) control on a third web party site, the system monitors events associated with the post, collects statistics with respect to the monitored events and uses this data to generate a visualization of the reach of that post. Example visualization provides the creator of the post a sense of how many other members interacted with the post.
