Abstract:
The invention relates to the X-ray crystal structure of the hepatitis C virus helicase domain. More specifically, the invention relates to crystallized complexes of HCV helicase and an oligonucleotide, to crystallizable compositions of HCV helicase and an oligonucleotide and to methods of crystallizing an HCV helicase-oligonucleotide complex. The invention further relates to a computer programmed with the structure coordinates of the HCV helicase oligonucleotide binding pocket or the HCV helicase nucleotide triphosphate pocket wherein said computer is capable of displaying a three-dimensional representation of that binding pocket.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to mutants of HCV NS3/4A protease. More particularly, the present invention identifies mutant of HCV NS3/4A protease that are resistant to drug treatment.
The present invention relates to HCV variants, particularly variants that are resistant to a protease inhibitors such as VX-950. Also provided are methods and compositions related to the HCV variants. Further provided are methods of isolating, identifying, and characterizing multiple viral variants from a patient.
Chromoionophore And Method Of Determining Sodium Ions
Huarui He - Alpharetta GA, US Chao Lin - Alpharetta GA, US Neeta Raje - Alpharetta GA, US Chusheng Liu - Atlanta GA, US
Assignee:
Opti Medical Systems - Westbrook ME
International Classification:
G01N 21/75
US Classification:
436166, 540467
Abstract:
The invention relates to methods of determining sodium ions in a sample, wherein the ions are contacted with a compound having chromophoric moiety and an ionophoric moiety, where the ionophoric moiety interacts with the sodium ions present in the sample, resulting in the chromophoric moiety changing its radiation absorption properties in the ultraviolet and visible regions of the spectrum. For example, a change in an intensity of an absorption maximum is measured and the ion concentration is determined accordingly.

International Classification:
B32B 9/04 B32B 3/10 B05D 5/00
US Classification:
4284111, 4273722, 427402, 428131
Abstract:
The invention is directed to optical sensors for measuring clinically relevant analytes, their methods of manufacture, and their various uses. In an effort to develop a dry calibration method for the optical sensors of the invention it is discovered that water content inside or in the immediate vicinity of a such a sensor can have a major impact on fluorescence intensity (i. e. , a sensor's response in the dry state). Thus, one of the objectives of the invention is the elimination of the bias of sensor responses measured at different humidity environments.
