Abstract:

A method and apparatus for graphically indicating the dimensions of fasteners on the fastener itself. According to a preferred embodiment, graphical indica are disposed on the head of a nail to visually indicate the length and/or gauge of the nail. Such indicia may include numerals and other shapes or objects. Preferably, one or more hatch marks are disposed about the face of the nail in the form of a clock face and representing such dimensions.

Abstract:

A process for purifying linear paraffins in which a hydrocarbon stream containing linear paraffins contaminated with aromatics, sulfur-, nitrogen-, and oxygen-containing compounds, and color bodies, but essentially free of olefins, is contacted with a solid absorbent such as a NaX zeolite or zeolite MgY. After adsorption the adsorbent is desorbed with an alkyl- substituted aromatic desorbent, such as tuluene. The initial effluent from the adsorb cycle, which will contain a high concentration of residual desorbent, is recycled to a desorbent recovery system. The level of desorbent in the adsorber effluent is monitored on a real time basis until the desorbent level of the adsorber effluent declines from a plateau level, i. e. , a 100% plateau level, that correlates with the level of impurities, particularly the aromatic impurities in the feed, which is an indication of aromatics breakthrough, thereby signaling the need to switch the adsorbent beds.

Abstract:

A process for purifying linear paraffins in which a hydrocarbon feedstream containing linear paraffins contaminated with aromatics, sulfur-, nitrogen-, and oxygen-containing compounds, and color bodies, and also containing up to about 5 wt % desorbent from effluent recycle, is contacted with a solid adsorbent such as a NaX zeolite or zeolite MgY; after adsorption the adsorbent is desorbed with an alkyl-substituted aromatic desorbent, such as toluene. As the adsorent bed is being desorbed, the initial effluent from the adsorption cycle will contain levels of desorbent and may be recycled to the hydrocarbon feedstream. Previous to the removal of impurities from the adsorbent by desorption, the desorbent displaces interstitial linear paraffins which are also recycled to the hydrocarbon feedstream.

Abstract:

An apparatus and a method for storing diagnostic software on a data storage device provides one or more ghost partitions overlapping a user partition on a data storage device. During a factory download of the application software as well as the diagnostics software, the apparatus creates a user partition and one or more overlapping ghost partitions. Next, it determines a minimum and maximum partition size for the ghost partition(s) and allocates the ghost partition size(s) appropriately. The apparatus then creates one or more master boot records (MBRs), one for each created partition. The ghost partition containing the diagnostics software is set as the active partition to allow the diagnostic software to be executed. Upon completion of the diagnostics process, the MBR for a second ghost partition is enabled so that upon reboot, download verification software located on a second ghost partition can be executed to ensure the correctness of the software downloading process. Next, the ghost partitions are disabled to reclaim storage space back to the user partition and the MBR for the user partition is set as the active partition so that upon reboot, only user partitions are visible.
