Abstract:

A capillary tube () is provided with ends that are initially open. The capillary tube () is preferably constructed from a plastic material that will allow the contents of the tube () to be analyzed by x-raying the tube (). Plural fluid segments () are introduced into the capillary tube () through one end of the tube (). Then, the ends of the capillary tube () are closed, such as fusing them shut () or by providing them with closure caps (). Different capillary tubes () contain different combinations of the fluid segments. The contents of each capillary tube () forms a distinct sample. The samples are viewed and evaluated while they are in the sealed capillary tubes ().

Abstract:

A method and an apparatus for preionizing a lasing gas mixture in a gas discharge laser. A short pulse of ionizing particles, such as electrons produced by an electron beam are beamed from the electron source, through a window and into the laser container to preionize a gas mixture containing CO. sub. 2, N. sub. 2, and He. Immediately after the gas mixture has been preionized, the discharge voltage is raised from a sustaining level to a discharge-maintaining level. The gas mixture can be maintained in its excited state for an extended time, and a longer pulse of laser light results. The electron beam and the discharge voltage can be coordinated by a control system connected to the high voltage sources used to produce the electron beam and the gas discharge.

A support rail structure which provides cooling air for removing heat from instruments. The support rail structures provide uniform cooling along each support rail regardless of instrument orientation within the instrument panel assembly. A system which includes the combination of instrument panel support rail and cooling manifold discharges a continuous flow of forced convection air along the base of the support rail. Valves are shown which provide flow-through cooling for cathode ray tube instruments. The instrument panel support rail structures enable a method of supplying conditioned air when concentration of instrument panels dictate that the air conditioning system be integrated within the panels.

Abstract:

A fluid applicator tool that includes an applicator portion including a pair of arcuate clamping members that each include an inner radial portion and an outer radial portion, an absorbent media extending along the inner radial portion of each arcuate clamping member, and a hinge coupled between the pair of arcuate clamping members. The hinge is operable for rotating the pair of arcuate clamping members relative to each other for positioning between an open position and a closed position. The pair of arcuate clamping members are oriented such that a through hole is defined therebetween when in the closed position.
