    view source
  • US Patent:
    7147579, Dec 12, 2006
  • Filed:
    May 15, 2002
  • Appl. No.:
    10/144988
  • Inventors:
Charles P. Forrest - Stapleton AL, US
  • International Classification:
    A63B 69/00
  • US Classification:
    473441, 473422, 473445, 482 87, 21788
  • Abstract:
A pass rush trainer has a rigid base that is height adjustable. Two coil torsion springs are mounted on the base and extend upwardly therefrom. At their upper extents, the springs are coupled to a frame including two outwardly extending arms which support the arms of a dummy or pad that is mounted on it. The distance between the arms is easily adjustable so that a pass rusher can practice against differing degrees of “wing span” of an offensive lineman. The pad itself includes a torso that is draped over the base and springs of the inventive device, has a portion simulating the shoulders and head of a pass blocker, and includes two padded arms mounted over the arms of the frame.
  • Goal Post Pad With Flat Sides And Removable Display Plates

    view source
  • US Patent:
    20040116214, Jun 17, 2004
  • Filed:
    Dec 16, 2002
  • Appl. No.:
    10/319901
  • Inventors:
Charles Forrest - Stapleton AL, US
  • International Classification:
    A63B063/00
  • US Classification:
    473/477000, 473/438000
  • Abstract:
A pad is designed to be easily attachable about the lower portion of a football goal post by virtue of a longitudinal split extending throughout its entire length allowing the pad to be flexed apart at the split to be installed over the goal post. The pad has internal padding that may consist of closed-cell foam or any flexible batting to provide suitable padding to cushion the post so that collisions by football players and referees do not result in injury. In the preferred embodiment, the periphery of the inventive pad has a square cross-section including four flat sides, each extending the entire vertical length of the pad. Each flat surface includes an attachment device such as VELCRO fastener allowing releasable attachment of an elongated plate that may bear advertising indicia.
  • American Football Defensive Player Trainer

    view source
  • US Patent:
    20060046875, Mar 2, 2006
  • Filed:
    Aug 25, 2004
  • Appl. No.:
    10/924801
  • Inventors:
Charles Forrest - Stapleton AL, US
  • International Classification:
    A61F 9/00
  • US Classification:
    473441000
  • Abstract:
A frame is mounted on wheels for easy transport of the device from place to place on a practice field. The frame has three pads in a line simulating offensive interior linemen. When the right-hand pad is struck by a player and reciprocated backward, a mechanism causes a latch to be tripped that results in a further pad behind the right-hand pad pivoting under spring bias to a position lateral of and slightly behind the right-hand pad where the further pad may be struck by the player. When the further pad is struck by the player, it is pushed back into a cocked position where it remains until the right-hand pad is again struck from the front. When the left-hand pad is struck from the front, the same result occurs symmetrically. On the rear of the device, two to three additional pads are provided that depend downwardly from inverted L-shaped arms pivotably mounted on the frame of the inventive device.

  • US Patent:
    50906968, Feb 25, 1992
  • Filed:
    Feb 8, 1991
  • Appl. No.:
    7/652776
  • Inventors:
Charles P. Forrest - Mobile AL
  • International Classification:
    A63B 6700
  • US Classification:
    273 55R
  • Abstract:
Disclosed is a tackling practice machine designed to be used by football players to practice tackling technique. The machine includes a frame and an adjustable upright designed to removably carry a pad. The frame includes two lateral upwardly extending members which are sized and configured so that when the machine is tackled, it is supported on one of these members so that in conjunction with the particular design of the frame and upright as to center of gravity, the machine will automatically pop up and be ready for the next player.
