Abstract:

Two shoulder harnesses are made from a pair of elongate flexible straps, each of which has a pair of like shoulder-engagable loops formed on opposite ends thereof and connected by a central section of the associated strap. One strap has formed in its central section, which is longer than that of the other strap, a plurality of spaced openings in one of which the other strap is releasably and slidably connected intermediate its ends. In use the interconnected center sections of the straps are positioned beneath a load that can then be lifted by the operators wearing the respective shoulder harnesses. The overall length of the load-bearing sections can be adjusted by inserting the other strap through a different opening in the one strap.

Abstract:

Coloration resistant photoconductive insulating compositions useful in making elements, such as photoconductive electrophotographic papers, are provided. Such compositions comprise (1) an electrically insulating organic binder, (2) a nitrogen-free polyaryl hydrocarbon photoconductor such as those having the formula ##STR1## wherein: N REPRESENTS AN INTEGER HAVING A VALUE OF 0, 1 OR 2, Ar represents an aryl group including substituted aryl such as phenyl, alkylphenyl having 1 to about 10 carbon atoms in the alkyl moiety, alkoxyphenyl having 1 to about 10 carbon atoms in the alkoxy moiety, and the like, Each of R. sup. 1, R. sup. 2, R. sup. 3 and R. sup. 4 represents a hydrogen atom, an aryl group, an alkyl group or an alkoxy group and, when n is O, R. sup. 1 and R. sup. 4 are both aryl and when R. sup. 1 and R. sup. 4 are both hydrogen, each of R. sup. 2 and R. sup.

Polyaryl hydrocarbon photoconductors having the formula ##STR1## wherein: N IS AN INTEGER HAVING A VALUE OF 0 OR 1; Ar. sup. 1 and Ar. sup. 2 each represents an aryl group including substituted aryl such as an aryl group that is fused to other aromatic or nonaromatic ring systems; R. sup. 1, R. sup. 2, R. sup. 3 and R. sup. 4 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or an aryl group including substituted aryl and, when n is 1 and R. sup. 1 and R. sup. 4 are each hydrogen, R. sup. 2 and R. sup. 3 are each aryl; are combined with a sensitizer for the photoconductor and an electrically insulating binder to produce photoconductive compositions. Useful electrophotographic elements include a support having thereon such photoconductive insulating compositions.

Abstract:

A multi-active photoconductive insulating element having at least two layers comprising a charge-generation layer and an organic photoconductor-containing charge-transport layer is disclosed. The charge-generation layer contains a continuous polymeric phase having dispersed therein a co-crystalline complex composed of (i) at least one polymer having an alkylidene diarylene group in a recurring unit and (ii) at least one pyrylium-type dye salt.
