Abstract:
A system for drying a gas includes a source of gas, a compressor connected to the source, and a heat of compression dryer connected to the compressor. The dryer includes a first tower and a second tower, each tower containing desiccant material therein. Temperature monitors are provided at the inlet of the dryer and at the outlet of the towers. Temperature readings from the temperature monitors are communicated to a controller which determines a suitable mode in which the dryer is to be placed.
A system for drying a gas, such as air, includes a source of gas to be dried, a multistage compressor having an inlet connected to the source, and a dryer connected interstage to the compressor and to the outlet of the compressor. The dryer is connected interstage to the compressor between a compression stage and a heat exchanger of one of the compressor stages for regenerating a first desiccant filled tower. The dryer is also connected to the outlet of the compressor for drying the gas using a second desiccant filled tower. A communication structure can be activated to connect the first tower to the outlet of the compressor for drying the gas using the first tower, and to connect the second tower interstage to the compressor for regeneration of the second tower.

Abstract:
A gas dryer is provided in which a flowing desiccant stream is utilized. Desiccant is provided in a vessel to dry compressed gas. The vessel includes an inlet for receiving dry desiccant and an outlet for removing wet desiccant from the tower. The desiccant is regenerated as it is transported to the inlet of the vessel.

Abstract:
An apparatus and a method to remove adsorbates from a fluid is described. A fluid such as compressed air is passed over a desiccant in a drying tower to adsorb moisture from the compressed air. The desiccant is regenerated in a venturi. A pressure-equalization chamber can be located between the venturi and the drying tower, and a pressure-equalization chamber can be located between the drying tower and the venturi. In another embodiment, a heater is used to assist in regeneration. In yet another embodiment, a heat-of-compression dryer is used to assist in regeneration. In yet another embodiment, a storage chamber is used to store a batch of regenerated desiccant while a second batch of desiccant is being used.
A system for compressing and drying a gas generally includes a compressor having multiple stages of compression and a dryer. The compressor includes a first heat exchanger and an after-cooler each of which utilizes a fan. A sensor is provided downstream of the after-cooler. The fan and sensor are in communication with the controller. A final stage compressed gas outlet of the compressor provides hot compressed gas to the regenerative portion of the dryer. Utilization of the final stage compressed gas for regeneration while also utilizing the compressor's after-cooler provides gas which is sufficiently hot to regenerate desiccant in the dryer and allows the communication between the sensor, the controller and compressors to remain intact.
A system for drying a gas, such as air, includes a source of gas to be dried, a multi-stage compressor having an inlet connected to the source, and a dryer connected interstage to the compressor and to the outlet of the compressor. The dryer is connected interstage to the compressor between a compression stage and a heat exchanger of one of the compressor stages for regenerating a first desiccant filled tower. Abstract:
Bar codes imprinted or otherwise applied to an object are read and decoded by focusing light reflected from the code by means of an object lens to a light responsive transducer. Electrical signals produced by the transducer are correlated and converted from a trinary code format into a binary code format. The trinary code utilizes bars and half bars made up of segments in one or more of four quadrants to represent a decimal equivalent number. This trinary code is applied to a converter where logic converts the trinary signals into equivalent binary signals which are then translated from a serial format into a parallel format for further processing by conventional binary code processors.

Abstract:
A method for removing hydrocarbons from a stream of compressed air for use in a compressed air supply and delivery system of the type wherein a supply of compressed air is provided by a lubricated or non-lubricated air compressor includes the passing of the compressed air from the lubricated air compressor through a catalytic oxidation system to remove hydrocarbons, including vapor phase hydrocarbons, from the compressed air stream. The method contemplates feeding the stream of compressed air from an outlet of the air compressor to a treatment station, which treatment station utilizes a catalytic oxidation system to remove the hydrocarbons from the compressed air stream, thereby oxidizing the hydrocarbons into carbon dioxide and water and removing a predetermined, relatively high percentage of existing hydrocarbons from the compressed air stream prior to reaching downstream portions of the delivery system and any connected utilization apparatus. A compressed air system in which the foregoing method is carried out also forms a part of the invention. The invention also extends to a catalytic oxidation system for use in removing hydrocarbons, including vapor phase hydrocarbons, from a compressed air stream.
