Abstract:

Detergent powders of high bulk density, containing anionic and nonionic surfactant and builders are prepared by spray-drying a low moisture content slurry containing liquid active surfactants to suspend inorganic solids including selected builders. A viscosity adjuster may be added to improve processability.

Abstract:

A particulate detergent composition additive is disclosed wherein each particle is an intimately blended mixture of a bleach precursor, a binder and a sugar. The binder is a non-crosslinked polymer having in an unplasticized form a T. sub. g of at least 40. degree. C. Suitable sugars include sorbitol, glucose, sucrose and lactose.

Abstract:

A bleaching composition is disclosed wherein the bleach catalyst is an aggregate comprising manganese (II) cations adsorbed onto an aluminosilicate support, a binder and a phosphate salt; the aggregates have a diameter ranging from at least 250 to about 2000 microns which aggregates upon dispersion in water for two minutes at pH 10 and 40. degree. C. leave undissolved less than 5% particles of 125 microns or higher. The base detergent powder comprises a phosphate salt and a peroxy compound. It was found that bleach performance improves by having phosphate salt both in the aggregate and in the detergent powder base.

Abstract:

Dry, granular bleach compositions comprising an organic peroxycarboxylic acid as the active bleaching agent are obtained by cogranulating the acid with a strongly alkaline, hydratable inorganic or organic salt. These cogranulates show a reduced tendency to decompose or detonate. A typical cogranulate is made from diperoxydodecanedioic acid and dibasic sodium orthophosphate with seven moles of water of hydration. The cogranulates are useful as bleach ingredients in detergent and cleaning compositions.
