Abstract:

On implementation of the invention provides a stackable chip-scale package for improving memory density that may be mounted within a limited area or module. A novel staggered routing scheme enables the use of the same trace routing at every level of the stacked architecture for efficiently accessing individual memory devices in a chip-scale package stack. The use of a ball grid array chip-scale package architecture in combination with thermally compatible materials decreases the risk of thermal cracking while improving heat dissipation. Moreover, this architecture permits mounting support components, such as capacitors and resistors, on the chip-scale package.

Abstract:

There is disclosed a method and apparatus for automatically conducting peritoneal equilibration testing. The method involves removing a sample of overnight dwell fluid from a patient in an amount sufficient to determine the concentration of a metabolite in the drain fluid. The concentration of the metabolite in the sample is then detected and the overnight dwell fluid is drained and weighed. A known weight of dialysate fluid is instilled into a patient and thereafter there are periodically withdrawn samples of the dialysate fluid and the concentration of metabolite in each sample is determined. The ratio of metabolite concentration of each of the periodically drawn samples to metabolite concentration for the overnight dwell fluid is determined. The patient is then drained after a predetermined dwell time and the volume of drained dialysate is determined. The mass transfer area coefficient of the patient's peritoneal membrane is then obtained as a function of the measured variables.

Abstract:

A device, a system and a method are provided for controllably releasing a product (26) into a container (10) in which the product (26) is mixed with another product contained within an interior (14) of the container 10. The device (12) releases the product (26) due to variations in temperature or pressure that the system experiences during an autoclaving or sterilization procedure, for example. Materials and shapes of the members (20, 20a, 20b, 22) of the device (12) are selected such that the members (20, 20a, 20b, 22) react or otherwise move within the device in a predetermined manner in response to changes in temperature or pressure. A system and a method are provided for admixing solutions. Abstract:

A method for improving the efficiency of an internal combustion engine having a cycle, for each cylinder of the engine, including intake, compression, power, and exhaust strokes, comprises inserting two strokes into the cycle in addition to the intake, compression, power, and exhaust strokes. No material other than air is introduced into each cylinder during either of the additional two strokes. A high efficiency internal combustion engine system having a cycle, for each cylinder of the engine, including intake, compression, power, and exhaust strokes, comprises a cylinder, a piston, an air intake device, a fuel injector, an exhaust valve device, a camshaft, and an electronic control unit (ECU) configured to control cylinder operation such that two strokes, in addition to the intake, compression, power, and exhaust strokes, are inserted into the cycle. No material other than air is introduced into each cylinder during either of the additional two strokes.
