Jeff Ruby's Waterfront restaurant drifted up to 100 yards (90 meters) down the fast-flowing river during the busy Friday evening dinner hour before the popular seafood eatery came to a stop beside a towering bridge as nervous dinner patrons looked on, Covington Fire Department Capt. Chris Kiely said.
Covington Fire Department Capt. Chris Kiely said Jeff Ruby's Waterfront restaurant drifted about 85 to 100 yards downriver to a towering bridge nearby but a rear mooring line held it firmly as nervous dinner patrons awaited rescue.
Diners at Jeff Ruby's Waterfront restaurant used cellphones to call for help Friday night as the restaurant floated up to 90 metres downstream, said Capt. Chris Kiely of the Covington Fire Department.

One patron would climb down the gangplank wearing a life jacket, which would then be sent back up for the next person. Kathy Kinane said she had to take off her heels to make her way down. Among those rescued was former Cincinnati Bengals star Cris Collinsworth, Covington fire Capt. Chris Kiely said.
