Abstract:
A seed coating composition for low temperature applications, said seed coating composition comprising at least one polymer having a Tg of -60. degree. C. to 20. degree. C. , provided that the Tg of the polymer is less than or equal to the seed surface temperature at the time of application. The seed coating compositions of the invention provide a matrix which entraps active ingredients and improves seedling survival by maintaining the active ingredient on the surface of the seed for a period of time. The seed coating also increases the safety of using an active ingredient by reducing operator exposure and environmental release. In addition, the seed coating composition is resistant to cracking and flaking even when the seed coating composition is applied at a temperature of less than 20. degree. C. Moreover, the seed coating composition improves the uniformity of seed size and shape which is advantageous to mechanical planting techniques.

Abstract:
This invention is an adhesive paste that consists essentially of a polymeric resin in particulate form and a carrier for the resin. The polymeric resin is present as particles with a particles size of 50 microns or smaller, is insoluble in the carrier at ambient temperature, and is soluble in the carrier at a temperature above ambient temperature. The carrier either reacts with the resin to form a covalent bond, or vaporizes from the adhesive paste, at a temperature above the temperature at which the resin is soluble in the carrier. The paste contains no inorganic fillers, holds its geometry on application, and fuses to a void-free bond.
This disclosure provides a composition comprising a mixture of molecules of Formula (I): {RO-[CH(CH)CHO)]b[CH-CHO]a}P(=O)(OX)(I), wherein R is chosen from linear or branched C-Calkyl or alkenyl groups; a is 0 to 50, b is 0-30, and a+b >0; X is potassium, triethanolamine, or H, and m and n are each equal to 1 or 2, such that when m=1 then n=2, and when m=2 then n=1.
