Abstract:

An acoustic sensor for measuring acoustic waves contained in fluid flow flowing over the sensor. The acoustic sensor reduces any unwanted self-noise associated with the flowing fluid by providing a nose cone having proper aerodynamic properties and by positioning the diaphragm of a microphone of the sensor at a location where any unwanted noise is at a relatively low level. The nose cone has a rounded, blunt or even sharp tip neither of which creates any major disturbances in the flowing fluid which it intercepts.

Systems and methods for monitoring and/or controlling a temperature related condition of an item, including from a location different than a location at which the food item is located, are disclosed. At least one remote unit has a temperature sensor, a computing device configured to analyze measured temperature data, and a user interface. The user interface displays information regarding a temperature related condition of the item via light or visual signals. A control unit may wirelessly communicate with the remote unit. The control unit may be used to program the user interface to display particular light or visual signals in response to particular temperature related conditions. The control unit may instruct a temperature control mechanism to adjust the temperature of the item.

Abstract:

A digital magazine server presents content to a user that includes various content items. The user may provide a comment to the digital magazine server for association with a content item and may identify an additional user in the comment. To allow the user to more easily identify the additional user, the digital magazine server associates information identifying users who have performed actions with the content item in association with the content item. The digital magazine server compares information in a request to provide a comment to the information identifying the users who have performed actions with the content item and presents the user with information identifying users who have performed actions with the content item that at least partially matches a portion of the information in the request.

Abstract:

A remote temperature monitoring system includes a first unit operatively connected to one or more temperature sensors for sensing the temperature of one or more materials or food items being cooked or heated. The first unit transmits the sensed temperature to a second unit that is located remotely from the first unit during heating. The second unit is programmable with the desired temperature and/or heating parameters of the item. By monitoring the temperature status of the item over time, the system determines when the food has reached the desired temperature or degree of cooking, and notifies the user.
