Abstract:

Robotic systems for modeling, mapping and exploring subterranean void spaces such as mines, caves, tunnels, bunkers, and conduits. Robotic modeling of subterranean voids is generally enabled by a procedural system consisting of preprocessing, ingress, void modeling, mapping and navigation, exploration, conveying payloads other than void modeling sensors, egress, and post processing. The robots can either be imposed mobility or can be self mobile with either autonomous, remote, teleoperated, or manual modes of operation. The robot may optionally transform from a compact size into a more conventional operating size if the operating size exceeds the void entry opening size. Void geometries with flat floors are amenable to robot locomotion such as rolling, crawling, walking or swimming. Alternatively, irregular floor geometries that preclude self mobilization may be accessible by imposed mobilization such as dropping or pushing a movable robotic sensor into such voids. The robotic device is preferably adaptable to voids filled with a gas or liquid.

A device and method are disclosed. The device may be mountable in a band saw table with a miter slot parallel to the cutting plane. An anchor bar may be mountable in the miter slot. A first and second guide bar may be perpendicularly connected to the anchor bar extending away from the cutting plane. Abstract:

A device and method are disclosed. An embodiment of a sliding sled for use on a saw table includes a flat plate, adjustable guide fences on the flat plate at a fixed pivot end to create an oblique relative to the saw table, an indexing system including angle indicators to set the angles of the adjustable guide fences, roller bearings on the bottom side of the flat plate for riding on the ACCU-SLICE™ rail, and a sawdust shield to keep sawdust off the roller bearings and ACCU-SLICE™ rail. Guide fences may have a fixed pivot end and a movable end and a locking bolt to temporarily fix the movable end at a desired position on the plate. The movable end of the adjustable guide fences may align with the angle indicators when the angle of the adjustable guide fence relative to the cutting plane corresponds to the angle indicators.

The invention disclosed herein describes a supervised autonomy system designed to precisely model, inspect and process the surfaces of complex three-dimensional objects. The current application context for this system is laser coating removal of aircraft, but this invention is suitable for use in a wide variety of applications that require close, precise positioning and maneuvering of an inspection or processing tool over the entire surface of a physical object.
