Abstract:
A method and apparatus for the detection of one or more telephone off-hook conditions using an analog-to-digital converter to detect voltage changes between tip and ring lines of a telephone network loop. An isolation network provides substantial electrical isolation for a detection device from voltage surges on the tip and ring lines of a âplain old telephone systemâ (POTS) network. The isolation network also provides a minimal load on the POTS wiring system, so as not to cause a false detection of an off-hook condition by central office equipment. A gain amplifier is used to scale the tip and ring voltage to a suitable range for an analog-to-digital converter (ADC). The ADC outputs a digital voltage value to a decision-making element, such as a microprocessor, a digital signal processor, or a state machine. The decision-making element can detect when multiple POTS devices coupled to the network wiring loop go into an off-hook state. The invention can also detect and compensate for a tip/ring wiring pair reversal and is highly reliable.

Abstract:
A wireless transceiver includes at least one phased array antenna, that transmits an outbound RF signal containing outbound data to at least one remote transceiver and that receives an inbound RF signal containing inbound data from the at least one remote RF transceiver, wherein the at least one phased array antenna is configurable based on a control signal. An antenna configuration controller generates the control signal to configure the phased array antenna to hop among a plurality of radiation patterns based on a hopping sequence. At least one RF transceiver section generates the outbound RF signal based on the outbound data and that generates the inbound data based on the inbound RF signal.

Abstract:
Aspects of a method and system for optimal beamforming in a wireless network are presented. Aspects of the system may include one or more processors for use in a requesting communication device wherein the one or more processors may be operable to request a transmission time slot allocation. A determination may be made by a coordinating communication device as whether to assign a sector transmission time slot and/or beamforming transmission time slot to the requesting communication device based on the transmission time slot allocation request. The one or more processors may be operable to receive the assigned sector transmission time slot and/or beamforming transmission time slot.

An adaptive communication device includes a transceiver that communicates with a first remote communication device in a millimeter wave frequency band in accordance with a first protocol. The transceiver generates conflict detection signals based on signals received from a second remote communication device that communicates in accordance with a second protocol. A conflict detection module detects communication by the second communication device based on the conflict detection signals and generates a model trigger signal in response thereto. A conflict modeling module responds to the model trigger signal by generating idle prediction data based on the conflict detection signals, wherein the idle prediction data predicts an idle period in the communications by the second remote communication device. A transmission control module generates transmit control signals based on the idle prediction data, wherein the transceiver times transmissions sent to the first remote communication device based on the transmit control signals.

Abstract:
Protocol adaptation layer for wireless communications. Communication devices that include one or more radio modules operable in accordance with multiple communication protocols establish communications using one communication protocol and then switch to another communication protocol. This switching to another communication protocol may be performed based on a variety of factors including effectuating communications of higher throughput, supporting uni-directional communications vs. bi-directional communications, or any other desired factor. In some embodiments, various communication devices include two radio modules that are each implemented to operate in accordance with one particular communication protocol. Alternatively, a multi-protocol capable radio module may support and operate in accordance with more than one communication protocol. Examples of possible communication protocols include those compliant with Bluetooth, IEEE 802.
