Abstract:

Described is using the human body as an input mechanism to a computing device. A sensor set is coupled to part of a human body. The sensor set detects mechanical (e. g. , bio-acoustic) energy transmitted through the body as a result of an action/performed by the body, such as a user finger tap or flick. The sensor output data (e. g. , signals) are processed to determine what action was taken. For example, the gesture may be a finger tap, and the output data may indicate which finger was tapped, what surface the finger was tapped on, or where on the body the finger was tapped.

Abstract:

There is provided an electronic device having a touch-sensing element configured for sensing touches on a surface thereof. A baseline sensitivity setting determines a sensitivity of the touch-sensing element. The touch-sensing element is configured to register a touch that meets or exceeds the baseline sensitivity setting, and to ignore a touch that does not meet the baseline sensitivity setting. The device further includes a sensor that senses an operating condition of the device. A memory of the device includes code executable by the device and configured to adjust the baseline sensitivity setting based upon the sensed operating condition.

Abstract:

A method and beverage container assembly for determining a level of liquid in a beverage container having a lid removably attached thereto. The beverage container assembly including a sensor configured to measure sound waves in the beverage container assembly. A processor is electronically coupled to the sensor, and to memory provided with executable instructions for causing the processor to determine the level of liquid. The executable instructions, when executed by the processor, cause the processor to receive a sound wave measurement from the sensor, obtain a frequency characteristic of the sound wave measurement, and obtain reference information regarding a set of characteristics of the beverage container assembly. The processor may determine the level of liquid in the beverage container assembly based on the frequency characteristic and the reference information.
