Abstract:
The present disclosure provides a method and system for powering a hybrid electric vehicle with a fuel cell, and in particular, efficiently initiating power generation in the fuel cell, the method and system comprising electrically connecting a battery to an ultracapacitor-based propulsion energy storage; using the battery to charge the propulsion energy storage to a predetermined voltage level for powering an air delivery compressor for a predetermined amount of time; disconnecting the battery from the propulsion energy storage; electrically connecting the propulsion energy storage to the air delivery compressor; operating the air delivery compressor using the charge on the propulsion energy storage to provide a predetermined quantity of air to the fuel cell; and causing the fuel cell to generate electricity.
Hybrid Electric Vehicle System And Method For Initiating And Operating A Hybrid Vehicle In A Limited Operation Mode
A system and method for initiating a limited operation mode and operating the hybrid electric vehicle in the limited operation mode is described. The system includes a user interface associated with the hybrid electric vehicle, an operating mode device and a control module. The operating mode device is coupled to the user interface and is configured to initiate one or more vehicle operation modes including a limited operation mode. The operating mode device is further configured to deactivate a second vehicle operation mode if the second vehicle operation mode is currently active in response to initiating the limited operation mode. The control module is coupled to the operating mode device. In some embodiments the control module is configured to generate commands for limiting the hybrid electric vehicle operational performance characteristics when the hybrid electric vehicle is in the limited operation mode.

Abstract:
A bridging member extending across a cavity in a semiconductor substrate (e. g. single crystal silicon) has successive layers--a masking layer, an electrically conductive layer (e. g. polysilicon) and an insulating layer (e. g. SiO. sub. 2). A first electrical contact (e. g. gold coated with ruthenium) extends on the insulating layer in a direction perpendicular to the extension of the bridging member across the cavity. A pair of bumps (e. g. gold) are on the insulating layer each between the contact and one of the cavity ends. Initially the bridging member and then the contact and the bumps are formed on the substrate and then the cavity is etched in the substrate through holes in the bridging member. A pair of second electrical contacts (e. g. gold coated with ruthenium) are on the surface of an insulating substrate (e. g.

Abstract:
An assembly of intercoupled integrated circuit die comprises: a substrate having a plurality of holes which extend through the substrate; each hole is of a size that is suitable to receive an integrated circuit die; a plurality of independent subassemblies are also provided; each subassembly includes an integrated circuit die and a heat sink which is attached to the back of the die and extends beyond it; each subassembly is aligned with a respective hole in the substrate such that the die lies in the hole and the heat sink extends beyond the hole and attaches to the substrate; subassemblies are interconnected by printed conductors on the substrate and discrete wires that are bonded from the front of the die to the conductors; and the die and heat sink have similar thermal expansion coefficients, while the substrate has a substantially different thermal expansion coefficient.

Abstract:
One innovative aspect of the subject matter described herein comprises an energy storage module that comprises one or more energy storage cells, one or more sensor circuits, a network interface, and a first safety circuit. The sensor circuits detect a condition of the energy storage module indicative of a malfunction. The first safety circuit monitors the sensor circuits for detection of the condition indicative of a malfunction. The first safety circuit receives a pulsed signal. When the one or more sensor circuits detect the condition indicative of a malfunction, the first safety circuit interrupts the pulsed signal being conveyed. When the one or more sensor circuits does not detect the condition indicative of a malfunction, the first safety circuit conveys the pulsed signal. A unique network identifier of the network interface is determined based on an arbitration method using said network interface in conjunction with the first safety circuit.
