Abstract:
Isolated novel and purified and characterized phospholipase A, referred to herein as calcium-independent phospholipase Azeta (iPLAzeta) having SEQ. ID. NO: 2 (See FIG. ), and nucleic acid sequence (SEQ. ID. NO: 4), and calcium-independent phospholipase Aeta (iPLAeta) having SEQ. ID. NO: 3 (See FIG. ), and nucleic acid sequences (SEQ. ID. NO: 5). For the first time herein, these novel enzymes have been isolated and characterized and are involved in the catalysis, synthesis and hydrolysis of lipids in a living mammalian cell. Moreover, these enzymes iPLAzeta and iPLAeta through the process of transesterification can catalyze the net anabolic synthesis of triglycerides through a variety of metabolic precursors (e. g. monoacylglycerol, diacylglycerol and acyl CoA).

Abstract:
A novel function phospholipase A, referred to herein as calcium-independent phospholipase A (iPLA) having SEQ ID NO: 1 and SEQ ID NO: 2, and nucleic acid sequences (SEQ ID NO: 3 and SEQ ID NO: 4) encoding and expressing iPLA is disclosed. This novel enzyme has been isolated and characterized and is involved in the catalysis and hydrolysis of lipids cycling in a living cell biosystem. In an embodiment, the iPLA polypeptide is encoded and expressed by an isolated nucleic acid molecule comprising a set of iPLA polynucleotides. In one aspect, an isolated and characterized gene comprises a polynucleotide having a sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 3 and SEQ ID NO: 4.

Enhanced Medical Treatments Resulting From Chemical Identification Of Calcium Influx Factor, Identity With The Factor Activating Phospholipolysis And Precipitating Sudden Death During Myocardial Infarction, And Determination Of Similar Activating Mechanisms In Multiple Cell Types Through Disinhibition Of Calcium-Independent Phospholipase A2Beta
A method for treating a mammal comprises administering at least one of a gene, enzyme and pharmaceutical which modulates the concentration of iPLAβ through transcriptional and/or translational regulation or effectively modulate the inhibition of iPLAβ through calmodulin or derivatives thereof.
