Abstract:

Apparatuses and methods for portable storage of disposable or rechargeable batteries are disclosed. The battery holder can have several battery compartments, each being suitable for securely holding a battery of a certain size. Additionally, the battery holder has visible indicia instructing a user as to how to orient the battery in the compartment depending on whether the battery is empty or full. Thus, the orientation of the battery in the holder signals battery's empty/full status to the user. The battery compartments can be arranged in one or more rows, circularly, or in a honeycomb orientation. The battery holder can be made of elastic material capable of securely keeping the battery in place. The battery compartments for round batteries can have a non-round cross section, thus enabling air escape from the compartment as the battery is inserted. The compartments can be slightly conical along the axis (draft tapered walls), therefore capable of securing batteries having somewhat different sizes due to tolerances. A lid for covering batteries can be attached with the battery holder. The battery holder can have a tab for keychain attachment.

Abstract:

The throttle controller according to the invention includes a rectangular base having a shaft pivotally mounted thereon with a potentiometer having a stem connected to the shaft for sensing the position of the shaft. A cable is connected to the potentiometer for transmitting the sensed position to the video game. A handle is disposed along one side of the base and connected to a first end of the shaft for pivotally moving the shaft responsive to angular movement of the handle. The handle is comprised of two parts. A vertical handle member connected to the shaft and perpendicular thereto and a handle portion connected to the vertical handle member, which extends over the base and adapted to receive a user's hand. The shaft is mounted on the base by means of circular bearings that are received in a bearing mounts on the base. A braking mechanism is frictionally engaged with the shaft for adjusting the resistance of the handle to pivotal movement.

Abstract:

An aircraft headset includes a headset band, including a head element and a pair of ear cup supports slidably received in the head element, ear cups pivotally attached at one end of each ear cup support; and a microphone boom pivotally attached to one of the ear cups; an improved ear cup tensioning mechanism including a tongue extending laterally from each end of the headset band and a conformal tongue receiver located adjacent the other end of each ear cup support; wherein the tongue receiver is conformal with the tongue, and wherein the tongue and the tongue receiver are constructed and arranged to provide near-constant lateral pressure between the ear cups and a wearer's head. An improved ear cup seal includes an outer seal covering formed of urethane-coated expanded vinyl; an inner flexible layer formed of scythed urethane foam; wherein the inner flexible layer has a memory which returns the ear seal to its original configuration when pressure is released therefrom, and wherein the ear cup seal has a variable configuration having its thickest region behind and below a wearer's ear, along the wearer's neck, and having its thinnest region adjacent the front of the wearer's ear along the jaw line. An improved microphone housing includes a hard outer shell having a cavity therein; and sound-absorbing material located inside the outer shell which enclose the microphone element.

Abstract:

An anatomical sensing system-guided prostate procedure device that includes a housing having a proximal end and a distal end. The housing may be divided into a distal housing section, amid housing section, and a proximal housing section, wherein the distal housing section is configured for insertion into the anus and retention in the rectum of a subject. The device further includes an instrument convergence point disposed between the proximal end and the distal end, the convergence point configured to allow an instrument pass though the instrument convergence point at a variable angle; and an instrument angle orienting system at the proximal end of the housing, the angle orienting system directing an orientation of the variable angle about the convergence point. Abstract:

An endarterectomy device configured to remove plaque from an occluded artery is disclosed. The endarterectomy device uses an adjustable wire loop end effector to establish and advance a dissection plane in the subadventitial space of the artery. The endarterectomy device is passed down the length of an artery in the subadventitial plane, adjusting the size of the wire loop end effector as needed to navigate the artery and dissect a plaque column, until the end of the plaque is reached. The wire loop end effector is then used as a plaque cutter to transect the distal end of the plaque column. The endarterectomy device is further configured along its length with support arms that facilitate removal of the plaque column as the device is removed from the artery.
