Abstract:
A system for permitting insertion or replacement of electronic cards, the system includes a scanner for scanning hardcopy elements, the scanner including an electronic component for performing at least one processing function on an electronic representation of the hardcopy element; a first processor for directing operations of the scanner and for receiving directions that are passed to other components; a field-installed electronic card that performs additional processing on the electronic representation of the hardcopy element; a second processor electrically connected to the scanner for sending directions to the scanner processor which processor includes field-installed control code for directing the field-installed electronic card.
A drug delivery device for placement in the eye includes a drug core comprising a pharmaceutically active agent, and a holder that holds the drug core. The holder is made of a material impermeable to passage of the active agent and includes an opening for passage of the pharmaceutically agent therethrough to eye tissue. The device includes a layer of material permeable to passage of the active agent. This invention provides improved methods that do not require the use of adhesives to form the drug delivery device.

Abstract:
A remotely-perceptible, impact-indicating target for a projectile, such as a bullet or the like, constructed so as to remotely perceptibly indicate and annunciate very realistically, to a target shooter at a projectile shooting location, the impact of a shot or fired projectile or bullet on a remotely located target in a manner clearly visibly perceptibly indicating not only the hit, but the impact location of the projectile or bullet on the target, by causing the effective expansion in an explosion-simulating manner of a quantity of visibly perceptible target material.

Abstract:
A wearable health management system includes a flexible member configured to be worn on an affected area by a patient. At least one actuator is operably coupled to the flexible member. The at least one actuator is configured to be adjusted between a deployed state and a non-deployed state. At least one of a photoplethysmogram sensor and a bioimpedance sensor is coupled to the flexible member to obtain one or more health metrics from the patient. A controller is in communication with the at least one actuator. The controller is configured to adjust the at least one actuator to the deployed state to provide a selected pressure to the affected area.
