Abstract:

A modular, expandable, self-regulating watering system for burial in planters, which do not have access to water pipes nearby for use in watering plants continuously with on the amount of water the plant needs and which can be refilled by relatively infrequent visits. The system is comprised of a plurality of hollow sections each of which has two upper ports and two lower ports, unless there are only two sections in which case only one upper port and one lower port is needed on each section. One section has a fill pipe that extends above the soil level. One section has an air port at the top thereof, or close to the top, which is coupled to an air tube, which is plugged at the other end with a hydrophilic sensor. Expansion sections can be added or subtracted to make the system larger or smaller. All sections are coupled together at their upper ports by flexible hose or tubing, and are coupled together by their lower ports by flexible hose or tubing.

Abstract:

Planter modules, preferably of plastic or fiberglass, are mounted into holes on a one or two layer trellis. Mounting of the planter modules occurs normally after the planter module is filled with a bag of soil and plants are planted into the soil so as to start growing out of a front surface of said planter module. The plants are grown for 1-3 months typically before the planter module is mounted in its hole in the trellis. An array of said planter modules is used. The trellis is then erected and mounted to a wall which is to be converted into a green wall covered by plants. The plants then continue to grow in the planter modules and eventually cover the whole trellis thereby covering the wall.

Abstract:

A liquid container comprises an open topped vessel of generally rectangular cross-section with a handle on one side wall and a lid pivoted to that side wall. The lid has projecting puncture means which pierce the top of a sealed, semi-rigid container of a beverage, such as fruit juice, when the container is located in the vessel and the lid is closed. A slider closure member is mounted in slideway structure on the top of the lid so as to be slidable along a rectangular path over two apertures to either close or open both the apertures, the path being offset relative to the handle so that the slider can be operated by a thumb of a hand by which the handle is gripped. The apertures communicate with the interior of a semi-rigid container in the vessel via passages in the puncture means when the lid is closed. One of the apertures is an outlet through which the liquid is poured and the other is a vent hole.
